Just beat Black Mesa, now I'm desperately searching for some good singleplayer games.
I already have / play:
-entire fallout series
-entire elder scrolls series
-entire total war series
-entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R series
-entire Civilization series
-surgeon simulator 2013
-a number of shitty FPS games
Not really looking for strategy games as much as I'm looking for something remotely story based. Preferably not too expensive. Older games are fine, newer games are fine, I just need something new to kill time with.
thanks!
Mount&blade : warband great game especialy with mods
Play Baldur's Gate II: SOA and TOB expansion...
If you never played/finished it... play Final Fantasy 7 with the redone graphics.
And if you can find a version that works with your OS... play Lords of the realm II (don't play lords of the realm III that one completely tanked and it does II no justice.)
Also might try Age of Wonders... the first one is my favorite but some people prefer the second two.
And dungeon keeper I and II are pretty fun as well but the graphics are quite dated, especially in the first one.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood
...
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Origin needs to burn in hell, but nothing is worse than Microsoft LIVE.
Anyhoo, Spec Ops: The Line (http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/50300/) was an amazing game. I mean, the gameplay is nothing to write home about on it's own, but as a whole, man, I think that's the first single-player game that had trouble tearing myself away from in years. It had me in it's grips for every second. EVERY SECOND.
Dishonored was alright. The Witcher 2 was like Elder Scrolls meets Assassin's Creed melee with a writer.
Dishonored kinda interests me, not too much though. I like the theme, but I've heard that the gameplay is pretty mediocre. But I'll probably look into trying it out as well, thanks for the suggestions!
from what i saw, that final fantasy 7 re-release looks quite crap, only thing updated about graphics is resolution.
might be worthwhile if you dl some graphics mods. [note: i am not graphics whore, but seeing a game from 1997 released on steam with absolutely no graphical upgrade besides higher resolution and some pixel cleaning for 11 euros seems like cash milking to me]
still waiting for x, and x-2 to be released on pc...
When has square-enix ever not been about cash milking... hmm?
It's not an amazing graphics difference, you're right its mostly resolution and some minor tweaking... but it affects every unit/boss/character in the battle scenes. Unlike the mods I've seen.
But even though it's relatively minor tweaking... IMO it makes a huge difference. I bought the PS1 version on my PS3 and then pirated the new graphics one on PC... and for me it is definitely a big enough reason to start over on PC and forget the PS1 Version I have dl'ed on my ps3.
But really, nobody should be playing FF7 for the graphics, I just suggested he play it if he's never played/beaten the game before. It's a must play in my book, even after all these years.
Might not be of any relevance, but it is amuzing, in a way...(click to show/hide)
is origin really that bad? [note: this is not a troll question, i dont have any experience with origin, only used steam]
Everyone knows, OnLive is the best
is origin really that bad? [note: this is not a troll question, i dont have any experience with origin, only used steam]
Steam is really the only way to go man. Going Origin or something else similar ends up as a sad tale for you eventually. Either you get hacked, banned for nothing or your creditcard details go to african warlords who will then use it to buy AK47s and cocaine. Its just that Steam has been around relatively longer and has had very little fuckups compared to the rest. And atleast with Steam you dont have to constantly worry so much about loosing every game you ever bought in 10 years, overnight to some systemissue or hackers. And giving money to EA feels like im giving money to the devil himself.
Quake 2 - has a cool enough storyline, superior FPS gameplay. Quake 4 is good too.
What i'm playing right now: Gangland - an interesting strategy/tactics/whatever game, somewhat hard to describe, but it's fun.
If you don't mind going really oldschool - Celtic Tales: Balor of the Evil Eye - will need Dosbox to run, it's an open-ended turn-based strategy/tactics/RPG hybrid and it's reallllllly addictive, once you get into it. It has pretty, if low-res (for todays standards) 2d visuals.
Then, when you feel like wasting a ton of time, you can always play Sword of the Stars (with expansions). It's a 4x space strategy game, turn-based with real-time battles and it has a ton of replayability, just doesn't get old.
Yes. However, it is better than Uplay and Microsoft LIVE. That's not saying much. They seem to update it, though, and it may one day improve like Steam eventually did.
is gangland that 3d rts? or is it that 2d game? i remember long time ago i played a 3d cartoonish game about mafia gangsters and shit, you could equip them with custom guns and all that stuff, but i cant remember the name.Yes.
Thief 2 is simply a masterpiece. I played it amist the other mainstreamgames and I have to say that mybe the graphics are aged, but the game is still extremely immersive and insanely deep. This game is clear proof that HD graphics dont mean shit, when you have well designed levels, cutscenes, story and missions. I havent played the other thief games so much thou...
