The file on the update link is broken, when I try to join server it says version is 0.000 and I checked again when copying files over, one of the files is from 6th of January 2011.

A new gamemode, Defend the Village.

On another note, make sure you delete the old cRPG folder before copying the new version, don't overwrite.

Now, when I pick up arrows while still having some, they vanish and I have only the one arrow I picked up, so they are not added to the arrows I carry already.

It seems that the archer bug on pick "random" arrow makes the melee weapon drop most of the times. Any way to fix this? It's extremely annoying and unpractical, as if the arrow quantity wasn't enough

Skip the fun...
Requirements: only one character!

You can jump directly to level 30 and gain 10,000 gold. However, you will not gain any Experience any more - you will be stuck at this level. You can use this character for Strategus, too, though.

Confirm with your password:
Select your main character

Select this character as your main character - that will allow this one (and only this one) to participate as a Hero in Strategus, play as a Mercenary in Strategus Battles, trade with other main characters and do other funky stuff. This is irreversible. If you want to change to a new char, you will have to delete this one and create a new main character from scratch!

When i try to go to jump to level 30 it tolds me
Quote
You cannot use this option currently. Make sure you have no other characters than this one. You have to delete those.
So i don't have the right to have other reroll if i do that?!

Yeah it's pretty silly. Unless you buy a new cdkey and use that only for strategus.

Why is it silly? Some players who really arent able to play often
can play with a decent char but cant heirloom things or get beyond 30.

For those players this is a good option.

Yes what is this option usefull for?
What kind of player will use it.

But it stuck all your reroll it wont be usefull ...

It's a good way for a skeptical person to try cRPG to see if they like it, if they do then they can kill the char and start a proper one.

Then it's way better to just level that one char to level 30 and keep it there. Incase you decide you want alts at some point or you want to retire.

I agree with this tho:

I understand it. That's why I said it's better to spend the time leveling one character to 30, incase you decide to retire or have alts at some point, rather than going insta 30 and not having an option to have other chars or to retire.
Good for a new player to play around with builds and test them though.

Apart from the possibility that they are only going to know how to play with a lvl 30 so starting off at lvl 1 is probably going to make them feel even worse than those of us who had to learn the game while being a peasant and had to learn how to be useful as a lower level.

I don't understand this negativity about "skip the fun" for some people. Just because it's not a real option for players like us doesn't mean it doesn't add to the mod, let alone that it detracts from it somehow.

I'm tempted to think all the people comlaining about how useless it is are just annoyed they got left off the "free levels" gravy train. :P

It may be good for new player to learn how make a build :
Title: Re: 0.222 & website update
Post by: AlbaTiger on May 12, 2011, 01:50:54 pm
Well no-one is left off, everyone has the option to delete all their characters except 1 and take a lvl 30.

It is just that I feel I learned a lot of the tactical and positional awareness for this game from being low level, having to carefully pick my targets, run from people who looked too strong, stick with teammates who had better gear...etc...

Now that isn't to say people who use the lvl 30 to find out a build they want first won't learn those same skills, but they may get much more frustrated dropping down to low levels after only having played lvl 30 before.

I think the skip the fun option should be more accessable, by only allowing it once per account, but without the no alts requirement. It's a fun idea, but I don't see the point unless you are entirely new to this.

Cool feature with lvl 30. I bet you took the idea from the mercenaries mod. Hope strategus comes out soon.

BTW regarding the mercenaries mod, they actually pay a bit of gold per kill, as well as gold for victory. Would be nice to see it in cRPG too.

The trouble is you wouldn't get people doing the unglamorous jobs where you get less, or even no, kills if you add a reward for killing people.

This idea has been around a lot longer than Mercenaries, so you'd lose that bet.

Sorry mate, but we never had that. What we had was either pay per kill, and no pay per victory, or pay per victory, and no pay per kill. In mercenaries they have small pay per kill, and big pay per victory. And believe it or not, their TK rate is the same as in current cRPG. And personally I enjoy this mercenary system more than current cRPG pay system. In essence you still have to use teamplay to win and grab the major pay, but if ur team is a bunch of suckers, no big deal, you get paid for YOUR kills, though not too much.

Hmm, I'm quite sure a hybrid system like that existed before the area XP scheme was implemented. Might be my memory playing tricks on me, I suppose.

Either way, I would definitely see it as a step backwards. I prefer the current system.

- Leech nomination time increased to 30s
- you can skip grind and jump to level 30
- Other stuff

How about some patch notes, for once

Did you guys fiddle with the hitboxes again btw? Since 2 patches before it was awefull. Previous patch arrows would only hit... if you deliberate missed them.  Or a none existing upper torso hitbox.

In my oppinion.. just stop developing CRPG. Beg for the mercenaries mod code..... and add strategus too that. I bet everyone would be very happy

Simply because i still enjoy playing with my clan.

Having to respect,be gratefull or whorship admins/developers... shouldnt be the reason to play a mod.

You tell me....

Ask any archer, that has been playing thru couple diffrent patches.

Do some testing. Go to version 2.221 and try hit someone thru the upper torse.... it doesnt exist.

God why am i even telling you this. 30 minutes in a duel server..... and it was common merc knowledge that, arrows bolts etc fly straight thru heads.. and upper torso's when shot from point blank. Even sometimes hit the arms,  if someone swings at you, and his arm happend to be behind his back

I bet you guys tested this.. no ?

Even Keshian acknowleged this

That was Fasader.

He carefully took the player collision model, and put little holes in it from all sides. If you hit a char from the correct angle, any arrow goes straight through. Can even hit a person behind you.

We had a great laugh doing this. Was totally worth the 9 hours.

Ok tested it, upper torso exists.

On a note, i was called an idiot. So i guess Keshian and all others who had noticed the same problem. They are idiots. ( not my words)

Nice ninja fix

Exists? What exists? The only nohit we experienced was you shooting me before the duel start invulnerability had expired.

Also, for the record, I called you an idiot for immediately claiming there was a conspiracy when we couldn't replicate your supposed bug.

Type in hitbox..

in forum search. Already found 2 hitbox oddities on archery.

BTW, yes, we are testing new bows a little on a duel server.
And very skilled (human skill) archer with good cRPG skill (WPF) missed me many times.
(both players standing still - not moving)
It looks like arrow flying trough the model.

And even on the battle server many many arrows what must hit me (as it was always) just missed me,
but they flying directly to me - but didn't hit me.
It's not for Longbow IMO, it's for all bows.

meh, EU_1,2, and 4 have sooo many freezes and lags, so it was fortune to shoot someone.
and now it's really better, after 0.222

even better with low texture pack. Best thing since january for my connection

I meant all this silly talk about ninja fixes.

I've seen the bug replicated now, but it seems pretty random. I'd be very surprised if it had anything to do with recent patches, I don't know how any of the changes could cause this sort of thing. More likely to be an issue with Warband.

Jsut confirmed the hitbox bug again with Olmi seeing it.

previous time Muffin , Siiem and me tested it with one of the newer armor models.

i quess the bug occurs more or less with diffrent armors

having targets move in combat, is making the bug accur more often

Glad too hear that... altho it did cost me -8 on my bar.

Too bad it stil takes alot of putting up with grief.. when it comes to proving developers wrong

But well.. haters gonna hate

Yeah, but this kind of thing has been happening in Warband since the very start. I still don't know of any reason why it should have increased with recent cRPG patches, AFAIK there have been no such changes to bows. I guess devs may look into it if there really is a sharp increase in it happening, but on the duel server it seemed quite rare and hard to replicate. I know you said it happened to you three times in a row, but maybe that was just unlucky, or you managed to create the ideal circumstances for the bug. That doesn't necessarily mean it's happening more in general. :)

TBH, I think that was probably your earlier comments.

So i've got some questions about the level to 30 skip the fun thingie.

*Will the gold and equipment follow which is currently on my non lvl 30 character i'm ''skipping the fun'' with afterwards?

*Will my current heirlooms that's in my possession follow with to the new ''build''?

*And at last. Is it possible to retire again with the lvl 30 character for another instant level 30 build if you are getting bored of the current build?

That's all my questions about the ''skip the fun'' feature.

All in all it seems like quite a nice feature for people who doesn't have the time or feel to grind to lvl 30 again.

The point blank shoot through people thing might have something to do with the flatter trajectory fo arrows with recent patch.  Possibly an issue with warband where if you hit certain parts of the armor at a flat, horizontal angle rather than a sloped angle (trajectory fire) its easier to slip through the mesh without registering in the hitbox.  Angles provide more area hit in the body both entering/leaving so more room for hitbox to register at some point whereas flat trajectory is exactly 1 point going in and out.  And yes I tested it out with clanmate and shooting from a farther distance seemed to help.

Like the new changes, DTV is great.

Seems like the newest armor implements triggers the bug ALOT more often. The Kuyak armors especially. I think Keshian has a point here.
