Title: 2-slot items costing 2x as much

I haven't seen where this is mentioned but I just know it has but just in case...
On equipment screen, my inventory, for total cost of items, it adds the cost of my 2slot war spear twice to equipment costs.

If it makes you feel better, it is possible for a two slot item to break twice for upkeep...
