Any time a fief owner leaves a "regent" should be appointed who is on control of the fief. There should never be an instance where a fief owner is having an EU vacation and the fief is unmanageable (so long as you have other members of your faction).
If a lord leaves a castle, and the castle gets attacked in his absence, the people left behind are going to still organize, and someone is still going to take charge.
It seems like this would help solve a lot of the issues we currently face (with items becoming so numerous you can't access all of your equipment).

Would have to limit it by faction rank to stop the trolls..
Would be good if the leaders of a faction had control of any fief of their faction +1

Agreed, leaders of a faction should be able to control fief management as well.
But there should be some sort of "rebel" option. If a leader tries to revoke your lordship of a fief, the owner should be given the option to rebel, which would force them to leave the faction (but they'd keep the fief).

I don't think they should be able to transfer the fief.. Just control the inventory, kick people out and maybe the PP
If you own a fief it should be your fief.

Oh ok, I mis-interpreted. I also think that if you own a fief, it should be yours...so yeah, just ignore my previous comment (but I did suggest a way for the fief owner to stop a revocation of the fief ownership).

This would make life so much easier. None of this hot potato shit.

Any system that promotes doing nothing for the majority of your time in order to play most securely and effectively does not make for a fun game.
Being unable to access items in a fief unless you're the owner and inside seems like an oversight because of how easy it is for anyone to put items in.
Another idea: flagging items as usable/unusable in battles would be a decent placeholder, if fixing the actual gear bug isn't possible. It would have the added benefit of saving gear for later use, meaning you won't have to hold it all on players, further restricting potential player movement.
