Title: Bring Back the Sun 2.0
Post by: Ubereem on August 10, 2013, 03:41:23 am
YOU need to tweak the day/night pattern for NA servers. Nothing but night map after night map. Realism is paramount here. Day is longer than night and historically most battles were fought in the daytime. Tweak the pattern bring back the sun!!! I'm serious please don't ignore this. All these night maps are ruining my fun and I'm playing less and less because of it.

Edit: There is fix below :P

It's the dusk / dawn maps that get me, for some reason it makes things even harder to see on my screen.

Way too much night, rain and fog in cRPG. Don't mind weather effects if kept at a reasonable level.

Lol seriously after playing cRPG one would have to conclude that all medieval battles took place in the worst possible weather conditions. You think William Wallace really died from beheading? Nope, he really died from lightening strike on the battlefield. Long sword was too long.

I remember making a clientside day-only adjustment for testing. Not using it of course (because DX7 master race). Bids start at 10kk.

Are the devs at all interested in keeping people playing this?

10kk =10000?

I can go for 100000

well, remember the last "less night battles" petition - like 1.5 years ago?

that worked well.

One more thread like this, and they delete the sunsprite from the game...

and yes, I am fucking done with those night fights as well, my gamma slider hurts already

Go to Mount&Blade Warband >module>crpg>data, open "skyboxes" text-file (skybox.txt) and copy the lines (only the numbers) from skybox_clearday and paste it over the numbers from the skybox_night lines.

Voila, never ever night again! I use this since 2011 and posted it here and in the nditions forums years ago, but people seem to forget or simply not use things. I also forget which folk told me how it works (I didn't figure it out by myself, credit goes to some anonymous guy).

Thank me later, now giev money

I give you a plus now and test later, okay ?

BAN HE!!!

(and me as well, I will change that at once - thanks, never seen that workaround before)

Yeah, I remember some people being scared to use it because they thought it could be bannable. But it's just a modification of your own folders and files, same as more metal sounds, realistic colors mod and so on. Nobody can forbid doing that.

Removing all vegetation is also just a modification of your own folders files.

But i certainly do despise people doing that just to get an edge on other players.

day/night is another matter, since night is definitely bad for your eyes. I support modifying the files, though i'll never do it myself, and just wait for some devs to understand that this community won't grow any further just because we have "dynamic weather and day and night" feature.
Night is the ennemy.

Same here - I do not even have texture cheats to make my arrows more visible, and would never touch shit that makes bushes flat or walls transparent, as many here do.

But nights really got a bit out of control... 1/20, or maybe 1/10 MAX would be ok, but not as many as we got over the past months. Without turning up gamma I do not see shit and make my eyes bleed, with gamma up its also like cheating AND looks shit AND makes eyes bleed on non-night battles, and now - ok - no more nights at all is a small los, but I feel a lot better.

And I agree: I would be even more happy if simply the day/night system was changed to a bit more realistic percentages - nofuckingbody fought at night unless necessary or medieval counterstrike.

yeah people who make vegetation flat or abuse wall graphics are the worst scum in the world, but I would likely change my files so it only shows day time play (night time kills newborns and makes 20/20 vision go blind over time)
