I want to try out a kinda barbarian beserker toon. So im looking to using just axes.
I was wondering which would be better, Going polearm or 2h. Either case I would be using the Great Axe.
Is the standard 15 STR, rest in Agi good for this idea?
Thanks for the help. Up to this point Ive always gone spear/shield.

From what I see on the site, Great Axe is 2H, polearm wp will not affect this weapon.
Great Long Axe yes, this one is polearm.
Just look at the section where the weapon is.

I am a dedicated axeman and i go 24/15. But thats because i manual block well.
-
Go LWA and stunlock everyone with a 15/24 build and a 44c weapon that has bonus vs shield. Dance around people for better results.
-
Go with polearms, we've got the better axes in my opinion.
GLA for an axample... I mean example :)
And all the Pole-Axes, Long Axes, they rock.
:)

Great Long Axe seems to be the "it" pole these days.
-
And thats why its one of the most expensive polearms too now.

Imo it shouldn't be most expensive and one of the best. It's early design, that is inferior to poleaxes and logically it should deal a lot less damage, but devs wanted it to be on par with other stuff (or better)(the same problem exist with 1h axes, they just deal too much damage, they should be cheap but quite effective weapons, and now are one of best choices and expensive :( ).

The thing is the GLA is one of the best polearms because of its balanced stats, good range and fast. The next best thing is the long hafted blade, but thats no axe.
I myself use a Long War Axe now, its a polearm too, not much difference from a GLA, you can fool others because it seems to look like a noob weapon but it also got 44 damage.
Plus its cheap compared.

Didnt hear anything about the GLA some months ago when I was almost the only one using it. It got hit by the nerf this patch as well as everything else, and two handed swords still two shot me (sometimes one shot, Cicero ).
How come nobody mentions the glaive? Still the best polearm imo.

i heirloomed a lgiave because it fits my new style... it sucks imo, i cant kill shit with it - wish i had loomed my armopr instead

watch Tommyyy or Greifenherz, they know how to play with it. Get some sort of range control and you will see what the glaive can do :P

The most important part is that the high tier 2h axes are unbalanced and the polearms are not.
So if it has to be an axe, polearm it is.

Long Axe is a mean mofo (although axes in general are a bit slower than other 2h weapons), but does require 16 Str. Upside is that with good polearm-skill you can snag pikes from the ground if the cavalry annoys you.
What I've understood an 18/24-build is the way to go (I run a hybrid build with throwing axes, so I spend extra points on shield and power throw that otherwise could be spent in agility), or even more agility if you can afford that for utmost unstoppable violation of peoples' egos.
-
well for a brute axe char definitely polearm 24/15 or even 27/12 build with GLA.

yep... i have 27/12 with Great Long Axe and it works great.
If the weapon is not too short i suggest much more strength than 15.
And polearm for axes, not 2h.

Yea unless you can afford full black armor you'll need to go 12-15 agi as polearms. The min range thing that most polearms have drives me nuts sometimes.
