Title: Option to carry two 1hand weapons instead of 1hand/shield
Post by: Alec on August 04, 2013, 08:48:40 pm
it would be awesome to to carry a secondary weapon instead of a shield. I'm not sure its possible due the fact how it would be controlled, but still.. :)

Doubt anything like this will still come, it sounds like a big messing around with hardcode to make this happen.

The only one i can imagine doing a thing like this is paul  :P

There are some mods that allow you to look like you're carrying 2 weapons but the second weapon acts as your shield and will break.

Shieldbash is realistic though.

It would be great fun, left blocking and swinging with the left hand blade, and even a secondary mode where we'd be able to swing both blades, only slower...

Either I don't quite understand the suggestion, or you're asking for dual wielding. Realism aside? No.

Not only would this addition provide nothing to gameplay, but it would require extensive programming and the introduction of mechanics that the Warband engine does not support.

cRPG is full of adds, re-designed weapons, fixed weapons, etc.. Maybe its time to upgrade the mechanics and add some more realism into it.
We can use shieldbash now, wherefor i want to say thanks to the devs, but we also should be able to use a secondary weapon like a dagger instead of a shield. There are a lot of things that can be improved to make it more realistic. example: Weight of armours should influence horses, and the time to recover from a knockdown. It's most unlikely you can see that much in first-person while wearing a closed helmet. Another thing is to add the posibility to stumble for players and horses/donkeys. I guess there are far more things than this to improve gameplay and realism and i also realize this is a lot of work but maybe devs can work on this in the future :D

This all is just a suggestion and there is no offensive in it, so my apologies if it sounds like that. (most likely its due my english)

Dual wielding? No thanks, if you want dual wielding go play Neverwinter or some other fantasy game.

i could think of a way to make it work... imagine this... you have an item which is a pair of 1handers, you equip said item and then you get to carry a sword (or something) in each hand! but here is how it would work... left click controls left wep and right click controls right wep... which means no blocking for you! though perhaps you could code in an altmode with the dualwep that would set right click to allow direction based blocking with one of the weapons?

all in all it would likely be a huge pain in the ass (perhaps impossible) to do and would only really be for aethestetic purposes or the slight advantage of being able to carry around say an axe in one hand and a longer sword in the other which would allow you to use diff weapons for diff things... but youd likely lose out on blocking so...

prolly not worth the effort to try and code in, though it would be kinda cool.
