This mod was insanely good. Too bad the main dev is gone? and that pretty much ruined the chance of the mod being ported to Warband which sucks. But you linked another Lotr mod, I'd play that if they finish it.

AD 1257 (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,196192.0.html) is already a historically accurate mod and quite good. Version 1.0 just came out the other day.
A Clash of Kings (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=194610.0) is an old Game of Thrones mod, although I haven't tried it.
Prophesy of Pendor (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,126952.0.html) and AD 1257 are my favourite mods.
-
Light & Darkness episode 2. Has a quest based storyline, with side quests and hidden items/dungeons. Pretty cool.
There's also an evil and a good side.

Prophesy of Pendor (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,126952.0.html) luv it

The two mods you listed are eagerly awaiting my nerdgasms. The Crusader mod easily looks like the most high quality mod out there for Warband. Veiled Stars also looks like one of the most high quality LOTR mods, although it's only one person he could use a few more assistants.
Crusader mod best mod can't wait. http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,161039.0.html

Will that mod ever be playable?
The OP is from 2011.

Prophesy of Pendor (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,119.0.html) - awaiting version 4.0, which should be the full port to Warband
1257 AD (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,167.0.html) - a fully complete and really, really good mod overall
Sword of Damocles (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,205.0.html) - awaiting version 4.0, same as PoP.
-
I'm installing 1257 now, gonna dwell into some singleplayer warband :)
-
Prophesy of Pendor (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,119.0.html) - awaiting version 4.0, which should be the full port to Warband
Prophecy of pendor is already fully ported to warband
4.0 is like a new mod that continues the story of the old one.
The map in 4.0 will be another one too, but currently the development is on standby so you shouldn´t hold your breath for it.
if you haven´t tried 3.6 yet give it a try it´s really awesome

Wow, this 1257 mod has this weird shield bash that I always end up using and it makes me die.
Sigh
-
Yeah, shield bash sucks, you can disable it though - see camp/options or something.
-
there are still mods being developed for this game? wow...
-
brytenwalda, for awesomeness
blood and steel, for craziness
Bear force 2, for awesome star wars MP, but sadly it died
Rigale is pretty fun too, but i think it died aswell
-
Yeah my biggest pet peeves about single player mods is that they change the melee animations (to some dumb shit). Other peeves I've had, some mods have shield bash (like Christo said, which ends up getting me killed because the way I "feint" is to continually hold down my attack button, and then simultaneously press and then release my block button). Other peeves include shield being held too low (brytenwalda)
-
I ended up taking Floris instead, the installer unlike in the older versions I tried, gives you the option which animation set to use, which is great :)
1257 is just.. too big. Never thought I'd say that.

Protip with 1257AD: Pick a faction, that feels close to you, and then just ignore the rest of the world, that is not directly bordering it. Try to roleplay, it's the best mod for that kind of thing that i've found :)
I picked Zemaici tribe, one of those little Balt factions with 1 castle and 1 village. I pretty much had to solo the one war it got into, against another such tribe, the Pruteni. With all the relatively huge kingdoms around me waging war over towns and castles with armies in the thousands, the tribal conflict was rather funny :D
But then, the Zemaici king had no family members for me to marry or anything and wouldn't go to war against any other baltic tribes, no matter what i did, so i ended up leaving him and joining Lithuanian kingdom, just to have some action :(
-edit: You generally get tournaments in your proximity now and then, you can easily raise a fortune that way. Apart from that, you should be upgrading your manor and doing practice fights in the nearest town. There are deserters and bandits all over the place too, you probably just got unlucky with that.
-
I went in kinda like.. "okay, let's hunt some bad guys and get their stuff, tournaments are so far it would take 80 years to get there!"
*leaves town*
Bad..guys? I feel alone, where are you? :(
