Title: Random freezing
Post by: Necrorave on August 01, 2013, 07:15:26 pm
I have noticed a bit of a trend with every patch.

I start to have a problem after playing for a bit of time that my game may freeze up for a prolonged amount of time.  After a while, the audio will return but my screen turns black.  When I alt tab back into the game it starts to work like normal again, although the freezing lasts for 30+ seconds and can get rather frustrating.

I fixed it last patch by deleting the Crpg folder and re installing it.  Although, every patch that comes out it starts to do it again.

I figured it was my video card, although I am not having issues with any other game (Some that are MUCH more demanding)

Any ideas?

i used to have the exact same problem

i turned down some graphics settings, like shader, shadows, anti aliasing, stuff like that and it helped for some reason, im only getting smaller freezes now every now and then when i open the settings or steam overlay the first time after launching the game

i now have set all graphics back to max and the freezes havent returned, no idea why (my gpu can easily handle games like bf3 and crysis2)

(when the screen turns black you dont have to alt tab out, you can just wait and when the freeze is over the screen will work again)

I havent been home to try this onmy desktop yet.  Although just to make sure we are on the same page.

You just set the graphics to minimum.  Then set them back and restarted the game?

no
i set shaders, shadows, anti aliasing and antisotrophic filtering to the lowest, and bodies/ragdolls to like 15-20 (dont know if thats related)

then just played with those settings

a while later (2 weeks or so) i tried max settings again and it somehow worked

Are you running a solid state hard drive by chance?

today the freezes occured for me again, but without the screen turning black, just freezes of 5-20 seconds

turned shadow down to high and antisotropic filtering to nothing and no freezes since
