Title: Who Do You love Minus-ing Your Post?

While I am relatively new to the forums, I have noticed that many people tend to get a -1 for harmless comments all the time. Sure, i doubt anyone cares about infamy (i don't see why we need a rating system on forums to begin with), but it's just funny how some comments would ever warrant a -1.  Then I notice that its always the same people who have nothing better to do but -1 someone else's every post.

Sooo... why not make a thread about which -1's give you the most satisfaction?

Ever get into an argument with someone in one thread, and then find that they held a grudge and -1 your every comment from then on? Or maybe it's an in-game rivalry that followed you to the forums?

Whatever it may be, let's share which no-lifes you enjoy seeing giving you all your (probably) undeserved infamy!



For starters, i love seeing that good ol' -1 with either Smoothrich's or Kaokoala's name next to it.  It proves that i had just said something intelligent and worthwhile that at least 90% of the community can agree with. Not to mention i get a good chuckle out of it all the time.

So, let the anti-epeen love/hate fest begin!

EDIT : On a more serious note I feel like the + and - system is to show if the community is in support of something. It also is to express if something made you happy or laugh without having to comment.

Couldn't care less about fame/infamy, but the sad thing about random -1's is that it makes it harder to spot valuable posts at glance. At least I sometimes just quickly browse through topics and skip most replies if they got negative score (I just assumed those are trolling or so). Pointless -1's ruin the purpose.

Also - I think powers-that-be (a.k.a. Donkey God chadz) mentioned some time ago, that minusing only works if you don't spam it. I.e. if someone mass -, his - are not worth donkey-shit. :rolleyes:

Getting -1'ed makes some people rage, so it on certain cases it's really entertaining to -1 someone.

Then again, giving a +1 for a good idea on the suggestions forums might actually get that post noticed on the higher level, and soon it might get added to the game. Altho now that we got donkeys and flaming katanas instead of anything that players had suggested, I'm kinda giving up hope  :cry:

I rarely check who down- or upvoted my posts, but once I noticed that all my bump posts with cute girls in marketplace section were downvoted by Shemaforash. I couldn't care less, but it was pretty weird tbh, since I never talked with him. Maybe he doesn't like hot chicks? :wink:

You're looking at it in the wrong light imo.

The option to -1 something is a form of nerd rage lightning rod. When someone writes something stupid you can -1 it in stead of writing a rage post. The original poster will not have to rage reply to the rage post in order to create more rage and a whole chain of rage, tears and fail has been avoided.

+/- is a good tool to express what you think of the posts made, I have no problems with it really. Also I look at it as the sign of the level of community involment, while I do not condone renown farming a cerain ammount of renown/infamy shows involement to some extent.

Don't mind getting + or - from anybody if that is their legitimate opinion of a post, it's quite silly some people feel really hurt by somebody - their posts so the go on a - spree. Nobody should get ofended really for a simple + or - on an online forum, it's nothing personal.

Allot of the opinions are not expressed properly by writing because not everybody is a english native speaker so it's quite easy to missinterprite the meaning and intention of some posts and I know in the past some of my posts have sturred up emotions while they were not mean to be malicious in any way (some were tho  :mrgreen:)

Bottom line, you really souldn't pay too much attention to it and freely express your opinion regardless.

Guess he's still pissed at me for making fun at him in-game when he used to be a pro hitting through door glitch hero.  :lol:

I've never been down-voted by Koaklai, at least to my knowledge.

I estimate 80 percent of all my downvotes are because of my wonderful suggestion to add magic to the mod and because I'm associated with the FCC, so people take revenge on me for what Kesh does. :(

this + and- system doesnt work anymore as it should work, take diplomacy section as example, every UIF member upvotes their posts and ussualy downvote anti UIF posts (no matter what they are about)  only because they dislike each other. I say remove +  and - in forum so everyone can live peacefully now ( http://forum.meleegaming.com/general-off-topic/lel/  i lold )

JackieChan is probably the one person who I made permanently butthurt. He's peobably minused me over 100-200 times, I'm not kidding.

Kaoklai also minused my posts for a while but then out of the blue he plused me. :shock:

The answer is simple Jona: Human nature. People love to practice a given right simple because they can, regardless of whether it is necessary or not.

In this case, they go for minusing your post simply because they can even if you haven't even written anything offensive or bogus. I have stopped thinking so hard about it. As you can see in this very post, you received shitload of minuses again although there was no reason at all. I mean you only inquired a bothering issue.
