Title: 1handed Polearms
Post by: Denim on May 10, 2011, 03:36:47 am
No one in game seems to know so I figured I'd ask on the forums. Does anyone know if polearms use 1handed wpf when used with a shield like 2handers do or does it still use polearm wpf?

This. Probably should be a c-rpg FAQ put together to answer questions like this. It gets asked a lot.

It is not any different than vanilla M&B. Do people play cRPG without ever playing singleplayer before?

Umm...why would I play single player?  LOL

I played the tutorial, then jumped into native MP, then crpg.  So boring playing against bots when you can have live opponents. :)

SP is very interesting too. But when you allready played MP, the combat system isn't the main thing that will hook you to SP.

I think it's not really a good idea to start by playing cRPG. The risk is being disgusted because you lack both the stats and the skill. In SP, you can learn blocking very well without any humans around.

Not really on topic, but I wonder how WFAS multiplayer is doing. It must be very hard for people that did not played Warband.

There is no mention whatsoever of the speed bonus in MP, you learn that in SP, means you can buttfuck (read, 1 hit through the face, no matter the helmet) people who think that the stab you are chambering while running at them will only hurt them a little.

Gosh can't believe you guys hating on SP. SP is what started Mount and Blade. It's not merely about the combat, but the story, diplomacy, and doing what you want. It's up to you to make it fun it's a sandbox. But enough of this rant chatter.

I was looking at the calculator and noticed that polearms do like half damage when used with a shiled.  Is this accurate?  Is shiled/polearm a viable option?

Seems reasonable. Only use one hand instead of two after all. But yeah, shield and polearm is viable. Not for dueling (since you can only attack in one direction you are easy to counter) though, but it is a fantastic and slow-to-kill support-setup in the same way pikemen are.
