Title: New Character Inspiration Station (image heavy)

Go on, make a new character. Skip the fun. Put your +3 set of gear down and get some fresh digs. I don't care! Post images that inspire you or at least make you think about playing a different class. It doesn't have to be historically accurate. Maybe it's just something funny that reminds you of playing as or fighting against a certain class. Post 'em!

Skip to 2:30 mark for the action

Something tells me he doesn't understand how swords work.  They aren't chopping instruments...take a knife and try to "chop" at a steak and tell me what happens.  Now try the same thing and apply either forward or backwards momentum to it, does it penetrate now?  Good.

All of these photos are from the movie, "Ironclad".


Knight Templar 2h: I tried getting an alt into the Knights Templar but didn't have any luck, so I gave up on this guy. Templar heraldry chainmail with mail mittens, leather boots or rus boots, no helmet, and a greatsword. If you see anyone in monks or priest robes it is your DUTY to protect them with your life. Also defend maidens that cower behind castle walls.

From left to right:
Squire: European One handed sword , leather jerkin or padded armor, leather boots, and leather gloves. Find an armored knight to follow and protect him. Can have riding to give horse to knight if his dies.
Hobo axe thrower crazy guy: Pilgrim robes, rus shoes, leather cap, maybe leather gloves, and francisca or throwing axe. Ramble to yourself and laugh and throw axes at people.
Long picaxe thing guy: Leather scale armor, bec de corbin, leather boots. Stab and hack at stuff. Don't use too much strength, he's pretty fast.

Mackenzie Crook archer: Longbow with preferred arrows, aim for the neck and head. Padded leather or scaled leather, cloth shoes of some kind.

Huge ass cleaver guy:
He two hands it in the movie so a war cleaver would be preferred. He needs to look bulky so i'd use mail shirt with fur or another bulky armor, even if he's not wearing chainmail. Give him a kinda chubby masculine face with messy hair and beard. Don't give a shit about your life just kill everything. Splinted greaves with spurs maybe? Have a lot of strength, at least 24.

Paul Giamatti jerk king guy: Rich outfit, rus cavalry boots, courser (or steppe horse if ur cheap), ride around on your white horse and insult everyone and brag that you're the king. Leather gloves or lamellar gauntlets for added protection. European one handed sword. Warband has the perfect hairstyle and beard for this character, you should be able to find it. No crown thing though. Act grumpy when things don't go your way. Edit the face to make him look grumpy.

Here is a trailer of Ironclad if you wanna check it out, I enjoyed it. Sure it's hollywooded up but who cares its a good medieval action movie even if it is unrealistic. It's on netflix last I checked.

equipment: horse - destrier or whatever you prefer / polearm & shield 1st version - shortened spear (1 slot) & elite cavalry shield or knightly heater shield (both 1 slot) ; 2nd version - red tassel spear (2 slot) &
steel buckler (0 slot) / head - any khergit look-a-like hat from horned steppe cap till eastern cavalry helmet / body - light strange armor, khergit lamellar vest ..still works fine with khergit elite armor / hand - mail gauntlets / leg - Sarranid Shoes, Khergit Leather Boots / bow - tatar or hornbow (both 1 slot) / arrows - 1 pack of tatar while mounted , bodkin while unmounted (1 slot).

-- i played this for a gen long & i found it very funny & versatile & not that bad on battling .. after the new archer-buff-patch it could be more effective yet - didn't tried out.

it's nearly the same build as the suggestion from bob ross (nah ..not the painter , the poster above) & i' m glad to see his style - it works bob !

Sorry, but no. Taken from someone who took them from somewhere etc. The second one is most likely a D&D/Pathfinder character, since he is totally decked out in glowy trinkets.

Also, not too many(or any) samurai with yumi's, which is weird because samurai were original archers and used the yumi as their primary weapon in the early years of feudal japan

The yumi is 1 slot too, so you can actually pack bow + arrows + katana. Its missile speed is slower than any other bow, so it takes a lot of practice to adjust your aim. You have to aim farther ahead of your target. I did a gen of 18/21 yumi + 0 slot 1H + shield before the patch that made arrows weigh more. Light strange armor set is right in that sweet spot for archers that aren't going super high PD and want some decent defense. It was a lot of fun.

...that's what i'm used to with one of my alt (atm bruxli).

i wear a hammer (0 slot), siege shield(s) & or wooden stakes (both 2 slots), constr. site & mats on reserve, leather cap, leather apron, leather gloves & hide boots.
hammer itself could be really op sometimes (speed & much ps) ..never underestimate it. as for the siege stuff .. depends on situation, maps, mode, team. but overall great fun.
