Title: With the introduction of nudges, we can bring forward an idea for 1h/noshield

"The main-gauche is used mainly to assist in parrying incoming thrusts, while the dominant hand wields a rapier or similar longer weapon intended for one-handed use. It may also be used for attack if an opportunity arises."

Everything below are just ideas to get the ball rolling
The main-gauche is a 0-slot shield. It cannot block projectiles or couched lances. While blocking, the weapon is held diagonally in front of the bearer. If the bearer is holding a block with this weapon and then performs a nudge, the main-gauche will perform a stab dealing low pierce damage -- this attack is not blockable unless you have a shield or perform a chamber. If the bearer is not holding a block you will perform a left-sided, low blunt damage swing that can be blocked by a left-block or shield. I was a bit separated on how the main-gauche should break, so I've put two possibilities below.
Idea 1: upon breaking, the gauche is dropped at the feet of its bearer with 50% reduced HP. If it is picked up and broken again, it is gone for good. "Bonus damage versus shields" does not apply.
Idea 2: breaks like a normal shield (once its HP is gone, its gone for good). "Bonus damage versus shields" does not apply.

Please include any suggestions for improvement or write what you think, I really want to do some proper rapier/espada style dueling!

I actually now have the framework for item based offhand attacks with the introduction of the nudge system but I don't know of any way how to not make a shield item omniblock like a normal shield or how to have the primary weapon do the blocks.

I'd actually like to have cmp make it so that one can block with the weapon(if 1h) while wielding a shield but I dunno if he has the time or even if he has if he finds a way to do so. Also the tears of 2h and polearm would flood the forum (again).

Only one this fact make this attempt worthwhile.

It could be used with the bow in the main hand too... swinging a dagger with the off hand while the main hand holds on to the bow sounds good to me. Maybe too much Hollywood? Dunno...

Could have a spiked targe shield too. Low hp/armour  so easy to break, but nudge deals a small amount of pierce damage

EDIT made a thread

Stupid, and getting took technical in a non technical game. Why is there a need for special shit in this game is beyond me. We fad a simple yet hard to master game and now a glitch arcade wackyfest with all these mega nudges and weird kicks landing
