I thought the US was the biggest whipping boy for copyright shenanigans but this...this...
Europe Gone Mad: Printer Companies Will be Forced to Pay Copyright Holders Because of Possible Piracy (http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2013/06/europe-gone-mad-printer-companies-will-be-forced-to-pay-copyright-holders-because-of-possible-piracy/)
...I don't even.

What?
You're already paying that shit tax on every empty CD/DVD you buy. Same shit.
Stupid nonetheless tho...

Wonder if there's same shit tax on hard drives... You know because no one buy's empty CD's these days.
Copyright laws... Fucking BS. I buy records whenever I find good ones from the internet. Some CD's I would have never bought if I didn't have the access to find out those bands even exist. Many of those records are from small labels that aren't even being anal about these things. It's the colossal companies that have not yet realized they are going to die or become smaller as the industry evolves further.

Im seriuslly starting to hate publishers of all sorts lately. Granted they are not all rich inconsiderate shitbags, but still....their corpate douchebaggery will one day financially break us, hopefully resulting in their demise aswell.

I´m thinking this is a clever conspiracy forged by printer-fabricants themselves.
If you´d know how extremely they bullshit and fuck us over already...Like the case where the inkjet printers all waste horrendous amounts of ink on purpose so you´d buy more of the stupidly overpriced ink cartouches.
I would not at all be surprised if they figured out this little scheme together with publishers so they could charge us 20% more because of this shit.
And if it´s not...Not much of a surprise either, European courts dish out the most idiotic laws(After some state-specific laws in the US ).

You pay this tax in Germanyland since 2008, so nothing new here.
On the one hand this is quite extreme (this was initiated by a copyright collecting societies, some like GEMA, and if they can smell money, then may lord have mercy on you).
On the other hand copyright violations get out of hand, especially in the internet.
Most people think if they use it for a non-profit project, then they can use everything they want and this is not true.
There are some cases where people use part of my works (thats ok, i dont care about it), but they have not even asked for my permission and put their own watermark on it, yeah thats great.
And another case where someone has "stolen" some of my work. i could sue them for copyright violation, the problem this is somewhere in Russia, so i would have to pay a german and a russian lawyer (that already two lawyers too much) and this cost more than it is worth.
