日本弓的长度和长弓差不多了。 而且日本非骑射民族，也不是弓箭民族。老看见有人拿着日本弓玩骑射。多奇怪啊？ 为什么不和长弓一样变成2格？

If Yumi became 2 slot no one would use it. Even now only a few people use it. As Horse Archer it is not bad to have it 1 slot if you also want to carry a 1 slot weapon or 3 bags of arrows.
It's not balanced for infantry archers anyway.
Whenever I used it on foot it screwed up my shots. It is really doing what it wants. :P

The yumi is an asymmetric bow. I read several different theories why it was designed that way. One is that it allowed the short Japanese footmen (Chinese called them dwarves at that time) to use longer bows - even while kneeling. Another theory is that it was used on horseback with having an easier time changing aiming direction over the neck of the horse than with a symmetric (long) bow. We went with the last one. Deal with it.

Fun fact, samurais where mainly horse archers who fought on horseback with a Yumi, but I guess they did it because it sucked so fucking hard. It makes sense but maybe not in your narrow eurocentric mind.

Oh! I get to put my class on Japanese Samurai History to use! (surprise!) The basic beginnings of the samurai were as mounted horse archers used to mostly drive off bandits (if I remember correctly). They were primarily utilized for their mobility. The modern conception of samurai lays much more emphasis on the sword rather than the bow (which is why you may believe they are not a bow and arrow people).

for a normal european styled 2handed fighter it isn't possible to take a crossbow, or a longbow. but for the Samurai/ninja idiots it is possible to take the Yumi with katana. thats what i mean.

There's a fkin reason why Yumi is 1 slot. After all it doesnt matter really as there are 0 slot weapons anyway now. However Yumi is meant as a HA bow in first case. And HAs need more arrows than any foot archer.
It doesnt matter if some stupid katana guy can take it plus the katana. Who cares about that. Anyway, 2h GS + Long/Rus Bow doesnt fit anyway. You'll never have enough wpf for both (or even stat points for a good build for both ranged/melee).
Did you even ever play with Yumi? While being on foot you really wish to have any other bow. Yumi is great on horse but awful on foot.

You can take a hunting crossbow, or the short bow wich both require 1 slot.
