when your shield gets shot by an arrow/bolt/thrown weapon it cancels your attack
this is very irritating for shielders, especially with the recent influx of archers vis a vi the new patch, and it adds nothing to the game, is there any way it could be removed?

I just consider myself lucky that I was able to get a block while not blocking. It's odd, but then it would be too powerful.

I mean, it could just hit you and you could take damage instead. Your attack would be stopped either way.

Personally im even happy when my damn shield blocks an arrow. :lol:

passive shield block has always been a thing since native. Id rather have that then get shot.

yeah fair enough if the shield catches an arrow, but it's just a little bit silly that your attack gets cancelled :/

It is annoying when your shield gets hit when you're trying to attack and it cancels the attack. But like people are saying, it's either get hit from the arrow and be stunned, or the shield takes it and you get stunned. Would be nice if it didn't stun you, but I'd rather have it stun than not block when in passive mode.

Even though I genuinely dislike shielders, I don't think passive blocking should be removed. It is a nice little rational gameplay element.
It would be ridiculous if an arrow shot on a shield hit you by totally ignoring the shield just because it was not being held at defensive stance. And I take it that your annoyance mainly stems from cancelled attacks. Well, you should just pray that you were not hit. That much a of a drawback can totally be overlooked.

I won't minus your post like the whole wave of angry farmers is doing, but I agree with the rest. I prefer blocking an arrow I didn't see coming rather than geting hit. The whole point of attempting to create a fair combat simulator is to reduce sorcery and other black magic such as having an iron magnet on your shield.

Yes lets just continually charge a group of archers getting shot in the head and chest without flinching. What next remove getting hit with a melee weapon stun!

With my shielder/thrower guy I hate when I got a nice bead on some Xbow man reloading who doesn't see me there, then 'thunk'- shot cancelled, the guy hears it and runs away. On my two hander guy I really, really hate it when I sneak up behind a similarluy oblivious guy then 'Argh!'- a big (ok, not that big) chunk of my life is gone, I'm stunned, and the guy hears it and runs away.
On either guy I love it when I'm spacing out, and suddenly I hear either a 'thunk' or an 'argh' behind me, and am able to spin around and (potentially) save myself. So friendly ranged good, enemy ranged bad. I said it before, I'll say it again, "Buff friendly, Nerf enemy".
