Ranged, you just have to take bigger correction while shooting.
At least that's what I'd do if I had perma high ping.

Hirlok, a NA master archer, plays with 200 ping and do relatively fine, go for hard-hitting archer so when you hit it hit hard :P
for melee, it's the same. Go for a big built with lot of if as you can't block well and lot of ps as, when you hit, you want to hit a lot
like 27/12
BUT it depends on what you consider high ping. I play with a non-constant 100 ping ( going from 70 to 150) and i do not find it high.

heavy lancer cav works very well on high ping
-
* Stall char at 3 str and 3 agi.
* Get quality peasant gear.
* Do the crab dance.
-
I consistently play with 200 ping.
I have an archer main and shielder alt. With my shielder I go 1h/pole combo.
I wanted to try hoplite, but speed and timing required doesn't seem to mesh with ping so good :(
-
1H cav/horse crossbow
no doubt
-
Shielder.
Rise your shield and wait. You won't kill anybody but you can help your team mates by protecting them.

Oh come on people, I was just joking around. Of all the people, I understand him very well. For a very long time, I had big ping issues with crpg in particular.
That wasn't an attempt to troll him or something. I was just kidding ffs.
The point is, ping factors a lot into how well you can play. It becomes quite impossible to do anything right after ping goes beyond 110 and above. At least this is the case for me.

QFT, Hirlok ravages the battlefield despite his brutal ping. He also never tries to kite, always whips out a melee weapon (usually a dagger) and dies like a man. He's the archer I most respect in cRPG.
Personally, I'd go strength build with a Great Long Bardiche/Flammy or other big slow heavy hitter. Just backpedal and swing wildly. You can often top scoreboard without ever having to block.

become heavy 2 h cav, thats how i manage to get good score in those shitty pinged NA battles ;)

works as hoplite as well

well i tried about all of those builds, have to say ranged and cav seem to be the best.
Thanks everyone ! :)

thanks to the usual suspects for their friendly words :)
in regards to op:
I'd say it is not so much the build, but a different playstyle and different expectations (you simply won't be the 723/1 KD 2H super hero).
Hirlok was 18/24 for a long time, but went back to str archer now, right now I'm 27/12 and going for 27/15 (yeah, fuck retirement ;-) ). I have alts with 9/27 and other builds in different classes (agi thrower, agi shielder, ...) and have fun with them + manage to be in the middle of the scoreboard most of the time.
My ping is 220 on good days, around 300 on bad days, and hopping between 220 and XXXXX on really bad days. As long as it is constant, I can do reasonably well with up to 320, after that it becomes unplayable.
Just a few things to keep in mind:
- avoid anything that requires you to block or chamber. Both is based on pure luck and your psychic abilities - you just see the hit after it happened... I only can block (yep, started using broad short sword, but don't worry, elders long dagger for face stabs still in my armory) VERY slow and/or bad players, and usually just 1 or 2 hits...
- try uncommon playstyles - like the guy (can't remember the name) ONLY lurking behind corners with a dagger: stab, run, lol, rinse, repeat...
- horses are freaking annoying on high ping. You just hear/see the bloody beasts too late and are dead already, too little time to react. Wait in cover until the monsters are dead, or play siege (!!!you should anyways, ALL of you!!! ;-) )
- as archer, go str to hit as hard as possible, or get around 170 wpf with 6 PD and do long range sniping with longbow. Somehow high ping seems to favor headshots at long distances on static or constantly moving targets.
- train your psychic abilities. Seriously. Beeing able to foresee the near future (about 0.3 seconds in my case) helps tremendously. On days where my mind is clear and open (nah, no weed involved, hehe), I just KNOW on which side the fuckers will try to dodge, lol
- and last but not least: join ATTS - because you WILL hit your teammates arses just as often as the enemy - esp. those that move too fast. So you might as well ALWAYS take the shot, hehe

Yeah, ranged should work.
Atleast it does for ELDAR_BOSS who has around 100 ping on EU servers but still is one of the best archers.

Playing as a range with high ping is possible until ping is higher than 150 and uou can shoot enemies on long range. High ping short and fast shooting sux, but it's still pissible :D

Any build for 550 ping? :D

15/27 2H is good until about 270ping.

Is that a no block build? What weapon and armor?
