Microsoft dropping DRM too, is this an end to DRM schemes? I would love to be able to borrow games to my friends, if I don't have time to play them at least someone should play instead of me.

I hope not. Without DRM gaming industry will surely die.

I will - every post of whoever - me now. Will start in 2 days. You have time to reconsider.

Gaming industry was very much alive before DRM. Big budget (100 million $ games) will die but I won't miss most of them.

Allowing a restricted form of game sharing isn't giving up on DRMs. I just means you might be able to share some games with a limited number of friends temporarily. And add another layer of conditionality to that sentence.
The way I see it, publishers in the future will try :
- F2P, because that's a tested and pretty much piracy-free business model (ever heard of hacked cash shops ? Cause I didn't) - Subscription fee MP games, maybe (I think those will die out eventually but who knows) - Always online with artificial mandatory multiplayer gameplay (think Sim City). Because that kind of DRM actually works.

DRM acctually broke the gamingindustry.
Ubisoft for example has cocked up every DRM game it has ever published. I remember when ACII came out and they where all like "DRM DICKHEADS, YOU WILL NEVER PIRATE OUR SHIT AGAIN, ITS UNCRACKABLE" - as they said. What they did was acctually encourage every single crackingteam to immediately test that theory. But before it was close to getting cracked, they removed it or something cause their actual costumers, who they totally forgot to please while waging war on piracy, were displeased by how incompetent it was. After that Ubisoft also released a couple of half content in DRM games, which also were so fail, that crackers didnt even bother. After this it appears that those nutjobs from that time are gone from Ubisoft and reasonable people have been hired.
Times are changing I quess.
