A bit ironic that makers of Battlefield make a new version of Battlefront which was just a SW themed Battlefield clone.
But at least I enjoyed Battlefront I and II when I was a kid.
-
Will be hard to replicate the FUCKING AWESOMENESS of battlefront 2 though. Damn that game is such a... aah i want to play it now :( ps2 not plugged in D:

Ikr, don't really want to dig out my ps2, may just buy it off steam for like $6
-
Battlefront? Played it abit on the PC some time ago I remember. It was...well it was meh.... Didnt really think it was bad, it was just okay imo.
-
Battlefront was so awesome. I loved both of them. Will definitely buy the new one unless its just a fleshed out remake of the old one.
-
I have to agree with Tiberius. It was an okay game, but it wasn't awesome for me. Battlefield 1942 was awesome because it was new. And I've played many SW games before it, wasn't first SW game for me. I understand many of like it, probably because it was one of "early" games for you guys. Just like Dark Forces II was for me.
-
My feels completely depend on how the game is going to turn out.
-
When I saw the teaser I gotta be honest, i creamed my pants a little.
-
Battlefront 2 was awesome for me because i used to play it a lot with my friend, split screen and there is just so much fun to be had. So many different game modes and different classes etc. Mos eisley jedis only was a bunch of fun. Or playing as ewoks and tossing rocks at people. Space battles were also awesome when me and my friend invaded the enemy base and just fucked shit up over there.
-
Battlefront 2 was a lot of fun on PS2, especially the space battles and mos eisley jedis only. Single player was pretty good as well.
It was good enough that when it came out on steam I got it. Also looking forward to seeing what BF3 looks like.
-
So excited for this. With the new engine and technology they have going here, this could be seriously amazing. Dice better not turn this into Battlefield with Star Wars skins though or I will murder someone.
-
Prepare for premium, and DLC whoring guys.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
-
battlefront 1 was way better than 2. playing jedi's kind of killed it. or didnt make it fun to play vs each other anyway.
yeah battlefront was a battlefield clone but a dam good one, with alot of great original features. playing split screen battles with tons of bots was extremely fun. no other game had that scale, offline anyway.

Anf if it turns into a battlefield clone with SW skins I´ll be happy, too - Battlefield 3 is the best multiplayer shooter out there, BF4 will be even better - if the new Battlefront will be anywhere even close to that quality I´ll be the happiest little nerd on earth.
And since DICE develops it im confident the outcome will be great.
PS: I still have the hope EA will buy the Warhammer 40K licence and let DICE develop a battlefield-esque game in the 40k universe, this would be my top-orgasm game of all times.
-

I don't want to start an argument, so lets just agree to disagree, I absolutely hate BF3. Everything after BC1 was pretty meh imo. And Dice has not impressed me lately. BF4 looks like more of the same meh, with more DLC rip-offs where you end up buying the game twice over just to get all the content.
Which is why I'm rather iffy about this, the engine and tech behind Dice could really make this amazing, but Dice could REALLY fuck this up. Especially with their track-record as of late. I don't need BF3 with Star Wars skins and have to pay out the ass for all the maps and whatnot. If I wanted to be ripped off and play a meh shooter I'd go for BF3. Hopefully Dice can get back to their roots pre-BC2 and do this reboot some justice. Fingers crossed!
-
I wonder if they will add in split screen, made the game so great.
-
Could have had Battlefront 3 a long time ago if EA didn't fucking dissolve Pandemic, which made so many great games. Fucking jerks.

I can list you a hundred reasons why Bf3 is currently the highest-quality multiplayer-shooter on a bigger scale out there - EVERYTHING about that game screams "QUALITY" in your face and slaps you in it with excellence.
You can say you dont like it - and that´s fine, everybody can have their opinion - but gods be damned, you have to admit it´s one fine piece of craftmansship.
-
On PC its almost as if they tried to make BF3 into a fucking social media page, instead of having servers in-game but now having them in a browser sort of killed the game for me. Its a game not a fucking Facebook wall, like we want to see how many medals or kills our friends just got.
-
Yeah the browser thing was utterly retarded. That single handedly put me off it as soon as I played the beta.

Not only that, Battlelog stats caused people to play like complete fgts (everyone rolling M16 because it was the most OP gun for a LONG LONG time) and grind Metro 24/7 with explosives just to up their stats.
-
I thought the reason everyone ground Metro was to meet the ridiculously overblown unlock requirements.

In all fairness this has happened with every battlefield game since....ever.
Battlefield Vietnam everyone used the M60 when it first released because it was so badly balanced and just an insta-win gun in infantry fights. It took them a good few months before they nerfed it. In 1942 it was the StG 44 for a long time. Pretty sure there must have been a BF2 equivalent but I don't remember.

BF2 was fairly limited in terms of small arms choice, for a single faction and a single class that is.

BF2 had the stupid dolphin diving RPK with sniper accuracy.
-
BF2 was mainly about bomb diving with fighter jets anyway.
And this is also why BF2 will always remain my favorite over BF3, even if all the CoD kids qq about walking.
-
BF1942 still reigns supreme. BF2 I only got on with when the mods started rolling out. Vanilla didn't particularly capture my attention.

I find that hard to believe, I don't think I could think of more than 5 reasons. :?
I'll admit, it has nice graphics. The maps can be pretty decent I guess. But other than that, nothing really impresses me. They should've rolled in a more BF2-esque direction IMO. And to be fair, I can't think of any shooters released recently with a sole focus on multiplayer, so there's not much competition for it.
Like I said, nice graphics, but other than that I can't really give it anything. The whole battlelog thing is absolutely terrible. The gameplay really isn't anything special, just feels like CoD done slightly different. But then again DICE shooters have been getting more and more CoD-esque with every release. But to be fair, I played CoD for years and absolutely hate it now, so I'm pretty biased against it. But like you said, everyone has their own opinion, if you really enjoy it, more power to you! I know I wish I could've.
EDIT: Actually just remembered Planetside 2, I actually enjoyed that more than BF3. It has the same arcade-y feel of it, and they're very similar, but I like the grand scale it has, and how there's actually motivation beyond, get kills, level up, rinse/repeat. But neither of them got much playtime from me, but at least Planetside 2 didn't cost me 100$!
-
BF2 was shit it was basically a stand alone of that shitty shitty desert combat super weapons mod. Obliterated all the nice balance aspects of BF1942.
-

I am going to have to disagree with the quality. It LOOKS nice, Although everything about the game is delayed and feels unfinished. It could of been an amazing game if they did it right, but those small things ruined it for me.
Its way better then most shooters out there, but in all honesty; PlanetSide 2 is more responsive then BF3. Which says a lot.
-
IMO Planetside 2 is a better game than BF3 in every single aspect that matters. Only if you really are after a quick 5 minutes of action from time to time is BF3 more practical. And even then, pod dropping on a hot point doesn't take that much time.
BF3 also lacks big maps (as in BF2 size at least), a proper command chain with a commander, it is filled with straight P2W and costs a total of a bazillion euros if you want to enjoy all the playable content. It is much too infantry-centric, a move away from BF2 all-too-obviously directed towards the CoD public. Planes move at snail speeds and hell you need to unlock basic stuff like flares and the fucking TV missile for attack helicopters. It forces a crappy anti-cheat bloatware up your ass and additionally requires fucking battlelog AND Origin to play.
-
Calling it now:
•Regenerating health
•"balanced" classes that don't allow any fun
•QTE based space battles
•Corridor shootan erryday, fuck open worlds
•"WHISKEY TANGO DELTA RAMIREZ FRAG THAT CHA--I MEAN DROID"
-
BF2 had the stupid dolphin diving RPK with sniper accuracy.
I am offended!
-
I don't suppose anyone played the PSP Battlefronts. They were actually pretty good and if they had combined features from all games and rolled it out as the 3rd Battlefront they would have been onto a winner. Custom characters and loadouts, hero spaceships (i.e. Millennium Falcon) and asteroid stations on space battles. I have no idea why the ability to go prone or using flying vehicles on land maps were taken out.
-
I am offended!
Because?
-
i wonder how they are going to handle the lightsaber combat
I thought the reason everyone ground Metro was to meet the ridiculously overblown unlock requirements.
my reason is to camp in ru base to roadkill people inside the metro with my mav..

With a buddy we had a little competition when playing metro on the russian side, trying to get as many kills as possible with the repair bots. The trick was to control the robot in the escalator. Iirc we also tried putting C4 on them but that didn't work.

c4 trick was possible during the open beta tests :D

What exactly feels delayed and unfinished about BF3 for you?
For me, BF3 is the most well polished, finished and thought out game since a looooooong time.Very few gamebreaking bugs, everything works as intended, it´s nicely realistic etc. pp.
I´ve played Planetside 2, too, but tbh, I thought it was not that good.Lots of network issues which made playing a pain in the ass a lot of times, everything feeling a bit off and the f2p model made it not that attractive to me.Some things I liked, like running up a hill with 40 or more other guys to attack something and such, but overall, it always fell back behind BF3.
-
realistic?
hahahahhahahahaha
-
I liked battlefield because I love crashing helis right after I get in because I know fuck all about how to fly them. I cannot stop laughing when I play battlefield and its worse when I play with friends because I cannot take the game seriously. Not the game's fault at all, just me goofing off.
On the other side if they make the new star wars battlefront like battlefield 3... will rage.
-
realistic?
hahahahhahahahaha
"nicely" realistic.
It´s not realistic enough to become boring or frustrating, it remains arcady enough to get in for a quick play.
BUT it´s a lot more realistic than other available mainstream-multiplayer-shooters, namingly CoD (Well, pretty much everythign is more realistic than CoD, but...).
