Title: How much difference between 160, 165, 170 and 175 wpf in archery?
Post by: juv95hrn on June 13, 2013, 03:42:54 pm
Could anyone with a high level archer character describe the difference between 160 and 175 wpf.

As far as I understand it the reticle doesn't get a lot smaller but you can hold the aim for a longer time?

The difference is of course putting wpf into a melee weapon as well.

Could anyone recommend a "good" wpf in archery to end up with or at least define what happens at the different wpf levels.

I have had an alt with 160 archery wpf and I don't find it "easy" to hit enemies. How much easier is it with even more wpf at higher levels?

Please share your input...

Just make a Skip the Fun character with 160 and then 170 archery wpf and feel the difference, it's quite noticeable.
I'd not recommend to put more than 50-71 wp in melee.
I'm not an archer though.  :D

Then it would be with unloomed items which would make the tests uncertain. I'd rather hear from people that played a few generations as archer.

I had 168 wpf in archery and 66 wpf in 1 handed too, with 6 PS, I was a sniper ... and able to defend myself in melee .

Cool story bro. How did you experience the difference between 160 wpf and 168 wpf?

Well , it was quite hard to hold the long bow drawn more than 0.5 sec with "heavy gear" , but with 8 more wpf , I was able to keep the bow drawn more than 1 sec ... Even 8 shitty wpf change everything ;)

You can try with your loomed Items. loomed Items can be transfered to the STF an back to your main.

The difference is small but noticable specialy for those held arrows. As for wpf for a melee backup i only ever put 50 - 70 in 1H for my archer personally just cos i think u dnt need much more to swing at a tincan whos prob gonna get u anyways haha

I'd say you don't need higher than 50-70, because you'll be using a very fast weapon anyway. Broad short sword works perfect because it's 0 slot.

You'll notice the difference between those wpfs only when you miss a headshot from a long range :)

A simple test you can do :
Make some STF with the different wpf you want to test, for each STF go on the duel server, shoot 40 arrows without moving your bow at the highest possible, then go where your arrows fell, and look the dispersion radius ... This should convince you.

I think I would go 170/50 on bow/1 H at higher level on a "pure" archer but still would love to know the difference between a 175/0 bow/1 H even purer build...

And I know kiting and running away with archers is looked down upon but what ath level is playable these days? 3? 5? 8?

4 is decent to duel with 24 agi , but if you want to maximize your speed , go 8 atlh !

And yeah Ronin, I retired because of repairs , I needed to sell loomz ! :)

Let me give some examples.

A lvl 33 archer could have the following wpf archery/1H:

175/76, 177/65, 179/50, 181/29, 183/0

I kind of like the idea of having some wpf in something else than archery but how much difference does those last extra points give. I guess playing around with STF can give some indication but you can't really get that high values with a 6 PD bow...

I have 183 in archery. Difference in wpf will be noticed when you will try long range shots. With +3 longbow and +3 bodkins i'm able to shoot ppl when arrow flight time is about 2 sec :D Beleve me it give tons of fyn when you HS someone in about 100m or even further... ^^

I reccomend 183 wpf for lvl 33. Compared to guys on lvl 30 with a 160 wpf you difference in shooting speen is noticable.

About ath i have 7 and it's enought to dodge and run, but i'm going to max ath on lvl 35 ^^

Slow archer is dead archer, remember that :D
