Title: Strength
Post by: Jacu on June 06, 2013, 06:09:37 pm
many people sey "yes" many people say "no",  "never"
Do we have something like "mass effect" on Crpg ?
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/siag.jpg/?sa=0
strength gives only 1point to hp and let wear more heavy armors
if someone have 30str, will he move faster because he have musculature (many strength) ?
if Butan with 30str and one athletics can be faster than peasant with the same athletics for what we have 7 or 8 athletics ?
maybe all chars should have build 27/12

Strength doesn't affect your speed in any way.

Since when muscular men can move faster in heavy armor, it's not even realistic...

I thought str reduced the movement speed penalty for armour weight

Go home, ur drunk.

you are helpful as always Idzo, next time dont increase your renown or infamy on my topics ok? :)

ofc str dont give bonus to move but maybe reduce penalty from heavy armors.
I have 8 ath. and i fought with 2h who had 4 ath. ofc i know my shield weigh 7.7 but i had saranid armor and he had Milanese armor, and what ?! he was faster than me

It does. So technically it indirectly does buff your speed, specifically if you're wearing heavy armor. Just more incentive to crutch!

No it doesn't. Just let me find that cmpquote or uristquote

Unless they changed it recently, which is very much possible as I just came back from a 4 month or so break, then it does. I know it did for awhile. I took advantage of it on a 36-3 build. It was quite nice.

Although are you sure you're not just misinterpreting what I mean? I'm not saying STR directly increases movement speed, rather it reduces the amount armor slows you down, thus someone who is 36/3 with 1 ATH and someone who is say 30/9 with 1 ATH, both with same armor, I believe the 36/3 would be faster. But like I said it's entirely possible it could have changed while I was gone.

Strenght has no effect on the armor weight movement penalty, or so that's what the devs said. And it is pretty old (might even be the case in Native too).

I could've sworn it did, I remember reading it somewhere, or maybe it was just hearing it from multiple people I just sort of took it as a given, either way, I'd love to have it cleared up, now I'm curious!  :D

I don't buy this at all given actual observed in-game behavior. Something is making strength tincans with less athletics able to outrun agility based infantry.

Sprint.

When running long distances without interruptions, athletics, agi and weight are less relevant because the sprint speed kicks in.

I would try to hop in IRC and ask one of the devs if I wasn't at school. I'm dying to know the answer to this now.

I'd rather say - the less athletics you have, the less armor weight penalty you get, as it reduces your athletics in a percentage value.
That doesn't mean strength affects your speed in any way.
Something is making strength tincans with less athletics able to outrun agility based infantry.
Bullshit. They can never outrun agility based infantry.
They only can catch them in a good moment when agi chars fail their running timing, if they're lucky.

It does not, never did.

STR doesn't affect your speed.

In time immemorial, the tooltip on strength had the "decrease weight speed penalty"part;  but it has been removed and thus, never happened!

The legend still lives on, despite multiple attempts from officials...

AH YES! I knew I saw it somewhere, this clears it all up! So either the devs lied when they put that on the site, or this is all one big conspiracy they're trying to cover up!
