Title: new 1h builds
Post by: Mlekce on June 05, 2013, 11:47:06 pm
What are the new 1h builds that ppl use on eu2?
I see a lot of broad short swords, side swords, and other spamy stuff, and i also notice that it is very hard to play as 1h shielder with swords like Nordic champ.
Ppl got used to its speed so they block it easily, also 2h like longsword is braking my balls. Can't do a thing.
What build to use now?

The broad short was has been buffed with one of the last patches (a bit more damage and it uses no slot anymore) That´s why it is used more often.

For the blocking, i feel no difference. The shield gives away your next swing quite obviously.

It's not a new builds, just standart agi shielder builds (15-21, 15-24) which are now usable with stabby swords.

<100 speed 1h swords seem really slow lately, because every 2h is using a longsword/hbs which are much faster in practice than any 1h. The fast 1h swords can execute some really fast left swings, but everyone knows they are going to execute a left swing and block accordingly. My tip? Open with an overhead, and hold your left swings. Good players will still block you, but mediocre players are confused by a 1h that does anything but left swing spam.

That's suprising, I really only use left swing to get an easy headshot. Most of the time i'm using stab, thrust, or overhead.  :?

Well, i am pretty bad at manual blocking, but the first swing that i try to block, after my shield is brocken, is a left swing.
Most of the time it is the right guess.

Left swing is so 2012. even biggest noobs who don't know how to block, block it. Also they block overhead, only thrust or right sting could supprise them.
Only problem i see there is the spamy 2h,you don't have a time to do right swing because 2h are so fast that they will hit you first.

I definitely wouldn't underestimate the number of tricks you can do with 1h overhead =D

It has both nice reach and speed. Circling an opponent while utilizing overheads in conjunction with other attacks may lead to some easy hits and easily put pressure on him.

1h upperswing is still the hardest one for me to block.
I think the most common 1h build these days is more agility then str... so something near 15/21 or even 15/24 i would think.

Never had too much problems with people blocking my hits, but that must be because I've been using inverted attack directions since like forever. So I feel fine with my NCS.  8-)

What works for me against them is being patient. I realized they are indeed faster, so I act like a typical "guy with slow ass long hard hitting weapon" - held strikes, kicks, less feinting. Rightswing when I break distance, left swing when they come close, etc. Also 8 PS helps.*

*I mean duels without shield. With shield I'd prefer not to use kicks since they're so fast, better just hold my shield for some time while backpedalling.  :(

I am probably going to respec again for this str build. 8 ps would punish them all heavily with mw military hammer.

You are probably right, but 5ps is so low dmg that i need to hit someone with plate with warhammer 4 or 5 times.

Yes,but i can't circle them with 6 or even 7 athl. I mostly play on eu1,and i don't have advantage of speed. People must be higher lvls,my shield with archon's armor feels like i am wearing gothic plate compared to 2h. I even tested banded armor, and longsword with 6athl i was much faster and dealing a lot of dmg.

What class do you mean? With or without shield?

In either case, I'd suggest mastering the thrust attacks. It can be pretty rewarding to play. I got long espada eslavona and side sword, both are pretty nice for their job.
