Have you ever taken a hit from seemingly nowhere and thought, "who the hell was that?!"
Similar to how you are told when someone team hits you, I want to know the name of the person who shot/threw at me. I want to know who I have to hunt down. I want people to know it was me that shot them. This should be easy to implement, and would be a simple, fun edition to the mod.
I'd suggest this for melee hits too, but that would get annoying very fast.

Indifferent about this, although something like this could be found out by the part of your body you were hit and the angle of the projectile (Its not accurate but it could be used for a rough estimation.)
This would be nice for those cases where the projectile does not look right.
EDIT: I have gone from indifferent to No thanks. I Appreciate you sharing the sharing the idea though, nerd :)

edit: not sure if trolling

It would technically be meta-gaming. I would certainly decide to take cover if I looked at the notification after taking an arrow and saw Keldens name rather than bobbing and weaving against someone bad like Cyranuleworst na archer.
-
I would get a lot of satisfaction out of having people yell it me after they realise it's me killing them every time they go to some spot they keep going to for some crazy reason :/
On one of the siege maps I've got a place I hang out in and for some reason everyone does the exact same thing and they just run in a straight line and I'll often land 20 of my 26 bolts no problem :s and it should be a problem! I've got 300ms behind those fucking things!
-
If they are worth hunting down it tells you who it was  (because if they are worth hunting they have killed you, preferably by a headshot. Why would you want to hunt a ranged player that can't/failed to kill you?)
Also if what you were suggesting was implemented it would be a great way to troll.. Find a tincan load plain arrows and shoot constantly

Its easy to judge from where you got shot, no need for another text wall on my hud.
-
Useless feature... I don't want my screen being spammed, either side I don't want other to see I shot them.
-
Should maybe be an option left up to the ranged character shooting or something that becomes implemented after a certain level.
-
I'd say no, I think it's part of the gameplay to not know who shot you unless you saw where it came from.
-
Allow archers to write customized notes on the fletching of their arrows. Then all you have to do is read one of the many arrows sticking out of your character's back to know where they came from.
The more I think about it, the more this suggestion belongs in the realism sub-forum :D

I guess part of the reason I'd like something like this is because there's no assist feature in the game, and the points system is useless for ranged. When an enemy gets shot, which causes him to drop his block and get killed by my ally's overhead, I want him to know I'm the reason he got stunned and killed.

An option for the shooter and the target, since not everyone wants alerts when they get hit. I'm sure it would be possible through WSE2, and should be auto-off for anyone not using WSE2.

i would like a public notification every time i fart and an angel gets its wings

No. I don't want others to see my name when I shot them. They should QQ around, cry about being shot and run around without knowing where the shot came from. This is warband, not some stupid CoD game.

You know what is a good indication of where the arrow came from? The direction it's sticking out of your ass. Making your name appear for them in the chat doesn't suddenly make you light up on their screen.
-
Then there's no reason why we would ever need it.
-
I don't want anyone to get CoD feeling in here, the ones who want it might just need to be forced to play a proper game
by not enabling them to have a CoD-like beginners help HUD in here.
-
What's everyone on about CoD? What CoD feeling? You have some kind of a complex from CoD or what? I'm indifferent about this whole thing, I don't care whether the one I shot sees a message telling him it was me who shot his ass, I just wonder what's this bullshit about CoD? Do you see who shot you in CoD if it doesn't kill you?
We already have a sound confirmation when we hit someone with ranged weapon, no matter how far they are. That to me seems way more "CoD n00bzorz easy mode" feature than showing your name. I understand that people don't agree with this, but the argument of "we dont want no CoD here" makes no sense.

CoD is just an example for those crappy shooters (which I do play sometimes I must admit) which are ruined by to much information in the HUD and crappy gameplay.
In CoD you have that crappy minimap and a red bar that shows you from where youre shot at.
If you take everything literally you won't get far....

One of the reasons why I play warband, is simply the HUD which bears only the most important information. That is, money, xp, health and team points. I do not want more.
Anything else should be a thing players have to notice themselves.
