HBS, Longsword and Practice Longsword outreaches it with stab...
OH MY!!! NERF PRACTISE LONGSWORD! IT IZ SO SO LONG!
I have 1h cav alt and it's a lot of fun but animation of the right swing from horseback seems a bit stange and when you are passing very close to the enemy, sword may look like it goes straight through the enemy but the game won't record hit. I checked it with stationary slashing on Templol_Bobby. I was standing still and he was standing on my right side. by holding "Tab" I could see how my sword goes right through the middle of his body and doesn't do anything. Seems like perfect distance to slash but it's not. Maybe on smaller horses than destrier it works different, I haven't checked that. Maybe I was supposed to change the angle of swinging to the more diagonal swing? Who knows.
1h cav stab is super long, fast and usually (90%) hits in the head. Even though I'm using +3 NCS on horseback (low stab dmg), thrust seems very user-friendly and deals big damage (speed bonus). It's longer than it seems.
Swings from horseback sometimes hit the targets standing behind the horse - primary reason why 1h cav teamkills from time to time. Again, it's probably something with the animation or angle.
That's what I noticed when I gave 1h cav a try. It's cool-looking, dangerous for enemies and funny to play class. Basically, the more you ride the more familiar you become with animations and stuff.
Also never underestimate the power of shieldskill on horseback. It saves life so often it's priceless skill for 1h cav. Saves both you and your horse. Sometimes when horse gets hit, you will block the hit with your shield anyway which will decrease the damage dealt to the horse. Shield is an ultimate ponysavior.
I prefer 1h cav over 2h cav due to the usefullness of the shield and higher speed of the swing. Some people prefer slowly swinging weapons on horseback but my choice is to use the quicker ones.
