Title: Swimming
Post by: the real god emperor on June 02, 2013, 11:15:56 pm
Seriously, why cant we swim in cRPG? i can understand that you will drown in water with full plates, but when peasants walk in to the water and act like they re breathing until the bar is empty, it looks really retarded. Is it hard to make a swimming animation, and add it for people who got less weight E.g than 5 kg?

That would be the equivalent of trying to build a sI love youcraper on the side of a Gizeh pyramid.

I'm not sure if a lot of peasants were able to swim during medieval times. Those who lived near deep water probably could, but the rest probably couldn't.

I bet most people would learn to swim pretty darn quickly when you throw them in the middle of a lake...

... I could be wrong tho

I think we don't have it because we don't technically have water in mount and blade... We just got a space with reduced movement-speed and heavy fog textures when your are inside it....

You'll have trolls on the edge of the maps floating on water at the end of the round.

I propose new animation when go into water :

1- stop near water
(click to show/hide)
2- put armors off
(click to show/hide)
3- be naked
(click to show/hide)
4- put solar protection cream on skin
(click to show/hide)
5- touch water with toe
(click to show/hide)
6- retract penis because of cold water
(click to show/hide)
7- go into water with raised arms and making little girl shout "uuuh uuuh uhhh it's cold !"
(click to show/hide)
8- start swiming
(click to show/hide)
9- drown by hydrocution
(click to show/hide)

Crpg will be funnier with this..I deserved a LP for this amazing idea who helps Devs...

How about adding a little wooden raft to the construction site, so you can build a raft and float on the water.

Lol people still play PW mod?  One of the best mods out there, but all the game servers blow donkey dick with their terrible rule sets.  Every game of PW mod ends up revolving into someone reporting you for randoming and you spending 30 minutes explaining to the admins that you were defending yourself.  And then you get a warning anyways (even though you did absolutely nothing wrong) and the next time someone makes a false complaint you get booted.

Also, if you threw someone into the middle of a lake who has never swam before, they would certainly drown.  My guess is that people didn't recreationally swim very often in the middle ages.  I'm guessing that most people didn't have a lot of free time to pursue whatever fancied them.

I always found it amusing how easily a cRPG player can roll an entire PW server.  You always had that one person who thought he was tough shit until you show up with your cRPG training to crush his head between your thighs.  Sometimes you'd meet another cRPG player and for once, PW mod would become a challenge.

Oh right, this is a thread about swimming!

Yeah I'm not sure it's even possible with the game's engine, boats, sure, but swimming is like dual wielding; heavily discussed, yet never truly done.

I think it kinda sucks actually, admins are shit, I fucking lag on every server, everyone running around thinking they own the fucking place, I found most players to be complete dickwads.

Personally, i think the mod can go die in a fire, but that's my opinion

Back on to the topic at hand: most people in the Middle Ages, including many sailors, didn't know how to swim. If anything there shouldn't be a swimming animation, there should be a drowning animation

Your complaints are about the admins, servers, and the players.  Not the mod itself...

Well, because its a MP-only mod, which practically revolves around interacting with other players, you know, RPing? In my mind for a mod like that, the community makes the mod.

Don't get me wrong, it's a neato concept, I'm interested to see how the similar, newer mod persistant frontier turns out and that PW-strat hybrid looking mod the CSR dev is working on

If their was a QWOP swimming mini game in c-rpg every water map would turn into water polo with everyone eventually dying to their crapy qwop skillz.
