but fuck those post 'remove this, remove that'. These abusive techniques are only used because there is no other way to play it. I think most people already know what i mean with make piking more realistic, but if you dont: protip, why can people walk straight through a 3m solid piece of wood? Why can a downblock block a thousand pikes attacking at the same time?

You can also move through a 1.2 m long great sword. But this aside, if there's no other way to play it, it's a bad weapon and it should be cheap. That's it.

Why do people think that a pike should be viable in 1 vs 1? this is what idearms are for.
Also a pike is not some magical barrier that is going to stop somebody walking close up to you.
They can simply move it away and get close. I agree about the downblock thing however :P
Back on jumping though. I think it should be replaced with some "step over" animation that lets you get over obstacles, climb small ledges etc.

Dat gif! But yea, most retarded thread ever. Weapon has like only one attack direction, do rather pathetic damage, is slow and only works while stabbing with a certain angle and someone still begs for nerfs. Fuck logic! It aint the games if you cant block down, or if you get overwhelmed. That jump is all that those weapons have against 1vs1 meleeplayers and its not even that effective to be remotely OP.

Shitty damage? Your out your gucking gourd. Ago slobs with 3 to 4 PS can two shot people. That's pretty damn good for a weapon of 27 to 34 pierce

2 shot light armored and low lvl people. Which is sorta equal to getting hit with 1h.

I mean, you can do 360 helicopter jumps and right/left swing spam at the same time with greatswords, so I think pike/longspear jumping attempts to make a more balanced melee system.

I have one hit medium/high armour melee builds with my MW Pike and I have taken 5 hits to kill an archer in cloth armor. Pike is affected an incredible amount by speed bonus, 27p (24 unloomed lolwut) really isn't much unless you get the speed bonus right. The slower the weapon, the bigger the relative differences caused by movement speed.
As for the OP, this selective applying of realism is very convenient. Of course jumpstabbing with pikes is ridiculous, but so is ghosting through an extended pike or being able block every stab by leveling your weapon horizontally in front of you. Pikes were an OP death machine in real life, their reign only ended by guns. It's not like they are that OP ingame, I would like to see all them crappy 2h heroes have a shot at playing with the 300 length pike, I will laugh as they fail miserably. If a piker jumps away from you, you simply downblock.

I wish pikes and all weapons had solid mass to them. A wall of pikes should be unpassable, bracing pikes for cav to run into should be intuitive, they should be proper area denial weapons. But you shouldn't be able to hit people point blank with these long weapons (including greatswords.) It would add so much to tactics, would be realistic, and be super fun. Hope to see it in the sequel.

Yes remove jumping and add pole vaulting. Only for pikes and long spears. Then u can disrupt the vault by kicking the pike.
