Events section is the most ignored section on this forum, no one ever reads it so I think what the OP is doing is a fair move.

Events should have been promoted from subboard status a long time a go.

Events should be right under GD in main forum, for exposure. Community events and competition really helps boost a game's appeal or popularity

You really should have named the thread something more descriptive. I expect there are people who would be interested in the event, who are unlikely to click on a thread unhelpfully named 'look at this'.
