Title: RP Server With Death Penalty, Open PvP and Trading.

*A new game mode.
*Very big map, like PWMOD's.
*Players spawn in the safe zones they choose.
*In safe zones, there's no xp nor PvP.
*2500 XP/tick. No gold.
*Gold is earnable by trading from city to city.
*Outside of safe zones - PvP is free.
*30 min ban penalty when you die.
*Pay upkeep in every 10 minutes.
*Loot killed player's gold unless he banked it in a city, take his items and sell them to NPC's.
*Make everyone ride the Sumpter Horse.
*Additional quests, or player-given quests can be added.

Imagine being a new player and getting killed by some 36/3 guy in full plate 5 minutes after joining the server when you step outside the safe zone. Would you want to wait for 30 minutes to play again?

I dont think 30 min ban after death is fair. Maybe a proportion of the gold earned since spawn or bank should be lost.

 Exp should be managed in a way that prevents farming. Why wouldnt I sit my char in the server while I sleep to level my characters?

Deserters trade from city to city with 20 men. It would be a bad idea to attack our caravan.

You don't get anyhing when you kill a peasant, no items no gold. Why don't you let him trade for sometime and rob his profit? When you are a low level, you are no hero, and if you have no friends or clan you should have to stick with others in order not to get killed. (Killing a peasant or low level)

In PW, there's no purpose, but here you pay upkeep therefore you need to get money so you need to escort caravans etc. (Enforced RP)

If death penalty wasn't there, then it would be a mess. The fear of death is a good RP element. (Death penalty)

imo a "kill" mechanic should be introduced.  if the health bar hits zero,  you go unconscious.  at that point you can be stript off your belongings but dont actually die.  you can be taken hostage if the enemy has a cave, castle whatever,  so they spare your life for more gold.
maybe even be sold as slave ^^

only if they press a kill button during unconsciousness,  you actually die and respawn with everything lost.

I agree to everything, but I don't want a ban ... lets say 5 min ...  :)

But you should add some peasants and guards with bots ... or the server will be sad , as in PW  :wink:

Yeah I think something like this should not be overlooked.. cRPG should have something of an "Ironforge" from WoW, something that serves the same role. Where people can hang out, be afk, chat and fool around.

You kill greedy bastard :P Killing will be a rare event.

It should be something similar to what Thomek said.

All of the players will have a purpose, first of all. Other than that everyone thinks twice before attacking becase there's also a chance to get killed.

Or someone insanely strong (from personal skill or grinding gear) forbid everyone to play for an extended period of time.



There should be, in your idea, a way to easily identify and kill murderers, so that they dont have a too good time killing anyone they can. Something that would still give a "murderer RP" a chance to get through the game defense mechanism but very hardly.

WHY?

I meant that someone very strong could kill a lot of people before being killed himself, infuriating (forbidding them to play for 30mn in this case) them in the process.

A good balance would be required so as to not have a lot of noobs waiting to respawn, and all the good players being mass murderers killing machine.

Persistant World is great stuff. Moreover, a handful of people already requested PW having a database with your character stats in order for players to progress on their char development. Despite Vornne rejecting this idea several times, I still find it really nice. Besides, the problem in Persistant World has always been the lack of mature players and the weak enforcement of basic rules.

A PW based cRPG mode would be great, but the thing is how to separate the Persistant World from the native one. The principle of Persistant World is that you buy your weapons and equipment; whereas in cRPG everything is done via website. You'd either waste your time and gold buying your armor and gear, or developers should have to get rid of all the buyable options and everyone would just go with their default stuff. The thing is the spirit of PW relies precisely in that, travelling through the map, buying this, selling that, fighting, looting, selling, storing food etc. Besides for people who have no riding skill, how do you solve the problem of travelling through the map? Giving riding skill to those who don't have it would be unfair for the ones who invested points in it.

In my opinion, the only way this could be approached would be by dividing characters between normal cRPG and Persistant cRPG. Just like you have a main character which can participate in marketplace etc, and skip the fun characters or alternate, you could make a "Persistant" character, this could not participate in the rest of servers like EU1, EU3, and all the grinding would have to be made on the Persistant Server.

PS: There is a shitload of work put into Persistant World. Unless the devs really wanted to get to it and asked Vornne for the source-code - they are currently busy with their Melee game - it is unlikely to happen.

Dreaming is free, though.

Randomers are big problems in PW, i dont think hard RP would work on this one E.G.:

"-Sir, I have to carry those goods to Dhirim, would you guard me?I can pay you when we arrive."
"-Sounds good,lets move on then."

Even that wont gonna happen, some people will just abuse the RP and say "No." "Ok." or they will just kill you if you re out of the safe zone.But super light RP like this one might work great;

"-Bud,can you assist me to Dhirim,i am carrying some stuff.We can share it 50/50 so what do you say?"
"-Ok."

I know it because we have those people who cant answer a simple question in English.But the idea is really nice, i want it!

As others have mentioned before, randoming and trolling are going to be the big probelms, BIG probelms, that plus the fact, that I doubt there will be "heavy" RP

It'll just be a bunch of:

"Stop, give me all ur money"

"Plz, dont I have no monies"

*bandit begins to type a response, when the victim pulls out a sword and kills the typing bandit*

*argument over the dilemma ensues*

I'll rather have no RP than shit RP
