Ok I think I see what's the problem. Let me explain it.
When you move forward you make big steps, and when you move backwards you make little steps but you do them more often. That doesn't mean you move back faster than forward though.
I'm surprised you haven't noticed it before.

You don't, but if both of you are holding attacks or blocks, the person moving forward only moves ~2% faster, and that's within the possible error of WaltF4's tests. All that assuming the same build and equipment. Also the speed at which you backpedal remains the same no matter what other action you are doing (blocking or attacking).

Basically in combat situations the fastest build moves faster, in any direction.

Part of footwork skill is knowing when you can release your block to go "forward" slightly faster.

What if you turn your shoes, so they point backwards and you move forwards, now you move faster going backwards. ;D

On a side note, even going the same speed is fucking silly, unless your driving heavy machinery then the reverse gear is usually faster than going forward

You don't...

With the same character and armor, pick a distance that is fixed, at least 20 meters apart and run forward and then backwards.  It's obvious that running backwards is slower than running forward (with the same character).  And it's also obvious that some people can run backwards faster than another person can run forward.

Why do you make such terrible threads without thinking about what you're saying first?  I mean, I hardly ever think before I talk IRL, but you're typing on the internet...you see what you're typing before you hit "Post"

Yes, I wrote all of that in about 10, maybe 15 seconds, for you to respond "shove it up your twat".  You think I care what your response is?  Did you think I actually thought there was any hope in "reaching" you?  This is a time sink for me while I "work".  Keep posting retardisms, without retards like you, work would be quite boring.

I am from NA, I work for another 40 minutes or so, changing my oil, then I'll be riding around on my pony and playing in strat battles.

Why the hell are you posting and not playing the game?  If you're that bored, you can check out my photobucket and steal pictures that you like:

Warband engine aka backpedaltothemaxengine. I think people would start ripping their own cocks off if C-rpg got that mechanic Brytenwalda has. Where if you backpedal(walk backwards) you have a huge chance of falling on your ass. Sad to say, there is no bloody way in hell this game is even partially playable without backpedaling.

Yeah brytenwalda is pretty terrible, that's one of the big reasons.   I didn't like the time period of weapons, the melee swinging animations suck ass, only good thing it had going, was that when you are swinging a weapon, your shield does a better job covering your body.  But when you have your shield up, it does a pretty bad job of covering you...
