Hey everybody, I've been thinking of retiring and going archer and I read through the mechanic thread but I'm really confused by all the mumbo jumbo in there. Can someone recommend good archer builds? I wanted to hit strong so I was looking at getting 10PD with long bow.
-
If you get 10 PD , you'll hit strong , but you won't hit a shit ... the crosshair will increase after like 0,25 sec after you would have drawn your bow .
Go 18/21, that's accurate, quite balanced , and if you go to level 33, you can get PS like me.
And ... if you begin , don't take a longbow ... rus is easier to man , because cRPG's mechanic makes longbow extremly hard to man compared to other bows ...
If you don't want a dedicated archer , go 15/24 with horn bow , that's decent ... but you won't make a lot of damages...

Just respecced an alt to 24/15 archer, and its the most fun I've had with crpg archery. Bear in mind, I'm using a masterwork longbow and mw bodkins, if you don't have masterworks its not going to be fun.

Ok, so the general story is archer accuracy decreases as PD gets higher right?
Yet, I have 6PD and when I use my Bow, my crosshair is as small as when I use Yumi. And I can hold a draw with a small crosshair for much longer with the Bow than I can a Yumi.
So how does that work? I thought because Bow had less PD requirement it would become less accurate with higher PD?

You get the accuracy penalty based on your PD, not the requirement of your bow.

You get the accuracy penalty based on your PD, not the requirement of your bow.
So... what affects the crosshair sensitivity across different bows? Their difficulty + Your PD?
Lower the difficulty, the less accuracy penalty you get?
i.e. why am I more accurate (able to hold small crosshair for longer) with a Bow than a Yumi?
Hmmm.. forgot about accuracy stat on bows. Bow = 96; Yumi = 100. Doesn't help explain things?

The more damage they do the less accurate they get is the warband engine mechanics. In cRPG though they increased the accuracy along with damage to keep it balanced.
Every PD you take reduces accuracy regardless of the bows PD requirement. For example, if you have 8 PD then you will be just as accurate with a long bow as a horn bow. ( not precisely as accurate since long bow is supposed to be like a sniper of the bows with 7+ WM )
BTW 10 PD probably isn't a good idea you wont have enough archery wpf to be able to use your 10 PD. Go for 24/15 instead.
Build I would recommend from personal experience...
Long Bow
Bodkin Arrows
Langes Messer
18 str
21 agi
6 PD
6 PS
7 WM
4 ATH
80 - 2H
152 - Archery
Hits hard and accurately, does well in melee, and best of all not a kiting my old friendcher.

Could you guys tell me what this is telling me?
(14*PD)-((1.4)^PD)
I don't understand what the ^ sign means
I'm bad at math...
-
Say you have 6pd. 1.4^6 is the same as 1.4*1.4*1.4*1.4*1.4*1.4
(14*6) - (1.4^6)
84 - 7.53
76.47
-
Oh the ^ means to the n power? That makes sense.
So in your example if I had 150 wpf, I would lose 76.47 of it?
-
probably, I'm not sure ^^ ... And that's worse for me because I'm always with a 40 body armor + 40 helm + longbow +20 kilos of arrows (joke ... remove this nerf , archer's can kite anyway, even with it :P).
So ... I think I'm one of archers with biggest penalties on accuracy, right ?

Only armour weight affects wpf. Weapons/shields/ammo does not.

Algarn what do you wear?
-
Depends ...
Heavy aketon + padded coif + leather gloves + rus cav boots
Blue brigandine +same
or mail shirt with fur + nordic helmet + same

You need to be lvl 32 minimum to use PD10.. and that is with a stupid build that only stack PD and WM converting all the other points.. thankx to the extremly wise wpfreq.

No, you can be level 30 with 10 PD. We had a theme night with 10 PD longbowmen. Even though we had snail-like speed, both the damage and accuracy was really good.
-
now that I would like to see.,, 10 PD at lvl 30..please post the build.. without getting the "profficiency to low" message. for that you need more than 140wpf. in archery.

I used to wear that too, but with mail mittens and green kneecops.
But now I would rather wear a iron hat with padded coif, heraldic mail, rus cavalry, and scale gauntlets.
