Title: Noob Player, Why is there No Respec?
Post by: bilwit on May 04, 2011, 01:48:38 am
Sorry if this is a common question, I did a search but only a few vague posts with vague responses came up. Can someone explain why there is no respec option (other than reroll/retire)? I'm just about lvl30 right now and have just now grasped the concept of what makes a build optimal and what worked/what didn't but 4 Million more XP before I can retire and start over with the generation benefit is an insanely harsh penalty for people like me who didn't surf forums and plan the exact build beforehand without trying it out.

It doesn't have to be an easy thing either, it could cost like 100k gold or something to prevent people from doing it too often.

You can retire at level 15 with no bonuses. Closest thing you get to a respec you're gonna get.

The way I see it; it's more harsh to ride out the 4.8 million experience it takes from 30-31 with a gimped build than it is to just restart. It's not that bad if you just have fun with the new build.

But it sounds from what chadz said on the other post that he will do heirloom respec/theft but not a character respec, of course he could change his mind.

if you hate your character, pain of grinding 4 mil isn't worth +1 damage on some random crap weapon

To prevent flavour of the month builds.

If you hate your character, just retire now. I've done it plenty of times because that grind from 30-31 is harsh and much worse with a build you do not like.

I don't see the problem.

You can delete and start over or create an alt anytime. You can also retire after level 15, which is only what? Two hours of playing? You only need 300.000 xp for that.

Meh ive kinda found myself at points of like...well archer is fun if I could hit shit until I found out...oh...need like 130 some odd points.

Now im screwing around with shield and polearm mixed with throwing, hopefully it works out and I dont need to bother with respecs.
