You have people quiting mid fight? If so that really sucks. The not listening thing well we all have that issue unfortunately...

the earlier fight today was tricky though cause most of the EU mercs on both sides had a battle on EU strat that started with 15~ min left in our fight.

Yessir, and I must hand it to all the EU fellows who stayed with us in spite of that.

Also problematic were the handful of mercs we had on our roster who unsigned themselves mere moments before the battle... only to show up on the opposite side!

??  Our roster was locked 20 minutes before the battle.  Matey and Allers were the only ones I added after that, both of whom I had talked to long before the battle about signing up and neither had applied for your side.  Chris the bro was awesome enough to volunteer his spot for allers.

no offense but thats just desire - we pretty much consider her an independent party who does nothing to help chaos and expects no help from them, just having a banner shared.  Had our banner too same way in the past.  Its desire's battle and not chaos and we sold her the fief to add to her own personal domains which she will never give to another chaos member.

Still, we have, as a faction, control of the roster, and don't intend to let pass an easy defeat by way of possible subterfuge.
