Title: 1h only?
Post by: Chosen1 on April 21, 2013, 07:01:12 am
I was thinking of going with a one hand build on another character. Is it a good idea to go with a one hand only build? If so, what are some good ones?

Pick any 2h/polearm build and just replace 2h wpf with 1h wpf.

Depending on your choice of 1h weapon you should go with more or less in strenght.

Swords = more strenght
Picks and clubs = balanced or agility

Thats about it.

I'd say the short reach and better speed can be the advatanges of one handers. Yes short reach is an advantage in clusterfucks, so I prefer heavy str builds because your place to shine is in places where you don't have to move quickly. Onehanders are outclassed by twohanders in 1v1, so I'd say don't build based on 1v1 only. If you want 1v1, you can simply go for 2handers.

1h only is fun, but it has to be said - it's not as effective as 2h or shielder.

Exactly. "1h no shield" is not a class. It is a shielder with his shield broken.
There's no reason to not put some points in shield skill if you use 1h, unless you want to make the game harder for yourself intentionally.

You also get extra points to spend on attributes and skills.

You can have a 18/21 1h no shield at level 30
But only a 18/18 shielder at level 30.

It's not entirely true. On siege and in duels I'm more effective as 1h no shield than as a shielder or 2her. I'm not trying to say 1h in general is easier class than these 2 mentioned above, because it's not, but also it's not weak. Moreover personally for me 1h is easier class to play than 2h, cause basically doesnt need all these weird wigglings and stuff. On battle lack of shield is pretty big disadvantage, so its a different story.
