I got a simpel Suggestion too improve Cav Gameplay.I play Mech warrior and they made an small but very fine change too the Movement. Its 4 directional like in M&B...
Before the Change it was exactly like in M&B when u playing at a Horse.By progressively pressing the W Key u gained speed till u reached the max. Speed. When u realeased the W Key the Speed kept being at max. for exampel. But then they changed it so that ,the Speed would drop as soon as u not press W.This simpel change made the Gameplay alot better.
It take a bit more "skill" too manouver now since u need 2 fingers instead of 1....Its not something Big but a small Detail that could improve the Game.
what u think bout it folks?

I hold w while turning (or, occasionally, s). Pressing two keys isn't some exceptional player skill.
-
Didn't understand what is the benefit. A good cav should change it's speed all the time already. It is even finger tiring for me that way.
-
Besides, I sometimes use a Sumpter just so I don't have to hold w to walk like a peasant but can trot gently to battle instead.

better change would be what poop suggested in a highly well received thread:
four directional movement by adding two additional keys to enable strafing. this would truly add skill as attack angles/directions and speed could be fine tuned a lot more then now.

ye i compared mech warrior too much with M&B i think. As mentioned above u adjust ur speed all the time anyway.... actually it would make cav even easier then^^
i cant remember the Thread of poop but i think what really would improve cav would be an complete overhaul.
There need too be a Time Delay when u change the move direction depending at ur riding skill. Also horse stamina or a charge cooldown(Topspeed) need too be done.Optimum is that u fall of the horse or recive damage if u hit an Obstacel at high speed.

Infantry should lose control of their characters and run away in panic when horses charge, unless they are standing in formation and facing the charge.
Horse corpses should fall on people with 90% chance of instakill. People spinning around should have a random chance to fall. Jump height should be decreased. Being bumped while jumping should have a chance to knock the infantryman out. Stabbing a horse going full speed should render your weapon useless as it is stuck in a horse.
Horses should have less HP, more speed, and more bump damage. Full-force horse collisions should occasionally knock down horses or be handled in some different way then silly bumper car collisions.
I mean, there should be more skill in dealing with horses then just holding out your pikesword and stabbing.
