Title: Strat movement
Post by: Sir_Hawkeye on April 12, 2013, 10:20:15 pm
I've been playing a long time but I've just finally started getting a little into strat. I have all sorts of questions but one that is currently troubling me. I would very much appreciate it if someone could explain movement speed bonuses. The onyl way I know to get that is through buying mounts and that for full effect you need rouncy and up. I need to know the particulars though because currently i'm traveling at half the speed i was yesterday for example and I have no clue as to why. Do you need a mount for every crate + every troop for full effect? How does it work?

Taken from Strategus 4 FAQ Thread

u need more horses than troops and than crates to get that sweet sweet bonus:
this is the speed ranges from last strat3 (*these are made with 1 troop, so since we all have at least 100, we will all be a bit slower than these numbers):

Sumpter horse *1.3, (if u have crates it's 85% of the 1.3 bonus)
Every other horse above * 1.8 (if u have crates it's 85% of the 1.8 bonus)
So without considering numbers of troops speed should look like that :

44.55            speed with more horses than troops, and equipment worn directly, without any crates
36,8              if you have more horses than crates and troops
32.5              with slow horses,
27.6              if you have more slow horses than crates and troops
25 to 22.5     with equipment worn directly (depends on the troops and weight of the equip you wear), without any crates
22                 with more horses than crates, but more troops
18.75 to 10   if you have troops carrying crates.

How do you force troops to wear gear directly? I have stuff in my inventory but I don't know how that works.

I believe it's just a matter of having the same number(or less) of gear as troops, so 100 head armor, body armor, foot armor, hand armor would be directly equipped to 100 troops.

yes and with weps it is like this: 1 troop can carry: 2 weps/shields or 4 ammostacks/throwingstacks/siegegear.

Its even more simple than that : every troops has same slots as in cRPG (1 slot for each armor part and 4 slots for weapons/etc).

Total troops x each according slots = slots usable by strat gear

If strat gear is too much for all troops, it is shown as "crates" on the map that you are carrying.

So for 1000 troops you can have a maximum of 1000 armor parts of each sorts, and 4000 slots for weapons/etc, else it slows you down.

hmm no just made another test.
It is: 2 weps/shields per troop  or   4 ammo/throwing/siegegear per troop before u get crates.
No doubt, u can test it yourself, just remember that your crates dont update when u buy stuff, always make a small sell or transfer from your char, then it updates the crates.

even if the 2 weps are 1 slots ?
well, that way you can have a lot of great maul without too much problem :p

ingame slots on gear have no meaning on the strat map.
its meant to be like this so its easyer to calc both for us and the server  :P
