Yes but honestly Finland would defend its border whatever the alliance they are in.

Definitely a badass camper my old friend

actually I take that back. the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty between Germany and Russia effectively gave control of Finland to Stalin, so they defended themselves.   Russia was not at war with Germany until Adolph H broke that treaty and sent the einsatzgruppe into Ukraine.

Yeah, already read his Wikipedia page a long time ago. I love how at the end it is casually mentioned that he also killed 200 Ruskies with a 9mm submachine gun, which must've been at quite close range. I can remotely grasp that as a sniper you stay out of reach, although those Ruskies probably had bolt action rifles as well with pretty much the same range as his gun, but 200 kills with a submachne gun? That is one fucking K/D, although not much of a ratio if the death value is 0.

In what game was it that having your bayonet on your gun reduced accuracy? Simon Hayha shot with a bayonet on his gun and you can't argue about accuracy with Simon Hayha. As for the Finnish being used to the cold, I think that probably goes for the Russians as well.

although a great achievement,   and an inspirational story that blows my mind every single time i think about it,  dont forget about the poor russian farmer from next door that wasnt associated at all with communism or stalins mad plans, and was forced to serve under moronic ill-trained officers,  just to be slaughtered like cattle.  grim world we live in.

At least in Winter war lots of Soviet troops were from Ukraine or Caucasus and badly equiped.

Only very early designs (we talking 18th century) had this problem due to the way the knife was attached to the canon. And even that I am now quite doubtful of, maybe it was just silly when you tried to reload with the bayonet attached. Actually, I would expect "modern" bayonets to slightly improve your accuracy due to the added weight.

Finland was in a shitty situation. With Molotov_Ribbentrop treaty Hittler encouraged Soviet Union to attack Finland (Stalin was planning to expand anyway). This way no country would ally with Finland unless they wanted war with Soviet Union. And Hittler wanted that war. So that was damn well played on his part.  Later on that opened a whole new front on his assault against the Soviet Union.

Edit: Lol, writing hltler comes out as einstein :D
