Hi guys!
One-handers are overusing the left swing. I just see it all the time, everywhere. There is an obvious unbalance compared to other attacks.
It is the fastest swing,
It touches almost always the head,
It hits full blow from the very start (no progressing power with the execution of the slash see for thrusts),
The time for arming is almost nil as opposed to other attacks.
My suggestion: make the animation when arming the left swing slightly a bit slower (feel free to discuss realism) and introduce a damage reduction at the beginning of the swing.
PS: yes my main is 2H but my alt is 1H/thrower and I do overuse the left swing.

nerf 1h!!111 they spam me !1

It is easy to dodge bellow, got shit reach, if you move into the attack enough it'll just glance. The rightswing is a lot better.
Also I can hiltslash with an mw katana 0wpf and 4ps faster than I can hit with my espadas leftswing without glancing.
-
If you think it is overused, you can use right block against one handers automatically. People do that to me all the time and they are mostly succesful at blocking me.
-
Pikes abuse the stab, they overuse it! Nerf and force them to use swings.

lol :D OK I am not complaining and I do know how to block left swings.
I also speak as 1H user. I feel the 1H left swing is snappy. It is too easy to face hug and spam with it. There is something not consistent in particular when I compare with left swings from 2H or polearms.
I discussed with a friend who plays the mod too and he agrees. So I share my impression. You might not agree, fair enough.

You just need to learn how to properly use footwork. Then right swing, overheads and stabs will work great. The right swing got excellent reach, and alot of people expect you to left swing.
-
As a 2h ninja I abuse enemy's 1h-leftswing a lot when I fight against them, because they often rely on it too much.
So as a 2h ninja I think 1h-leftswing is fine.
-
Meh, if Im fighting a 1h, and i cant see their next attack, ill throw a block to left swing 70% or an ovhd the reast of the time.
I think it's fine tbh. 1h don't need anymore weaknesses, the left swing makes up for shitty right swing and stabs

The overused leftswing creates alot of confusion in an opponent when he suddenly face a guy who uses alot of other attacks, like overheads and stabs. I love it, alot of people are so unused to anyhing but left and rightswings.
So please leave it the way it is.

Based on the exact same argument, all polearm attacks should be nerfed except the overhead. They all connect and inflict full damage instantly.

This. If you do an overhead or stab you have a high chance that it wont be blocked. When I fight a 1h I can hold right block which then functions as auto-block. I like it.

2h hiltslash spam is still worse than 1h left swing

2h left AND right swing are equal or better than 1h left swing:
-All three hit for full damage early in the animation
-2h gets a reach bonus on both sideswings, 1h left swing doesn't
-The "hits the head" feature of 1h left swing is a double-edge sword, because all a 2h user has to do is ready an attack, and their animation causes them to crouch under the incoming left swing. You can't crouch under a 2h sideswing.
So it's not that 1h left swing is so amazing, it's that 1h right swing and thrust are so crap that left swing is often the only option. I prefer to overhead, but that's risky if your opponent is good at dodging.

Since the most recent weight-based(I think?) turnspeed change, overheads are, in my opinion, stronger than the all-mighty left-swing. They also frequently hit the bad guy's brainbox, are more difficult to block, and are easily combined with holds and feints.
Of course, in a group-fight, left-swing spam is often the most viable option, especially when outnumbered. Of course you're going to perform the most reliable and quickest attack in that situation.
Polearms have the right-swing in an even more powerful position than 1h's left-swing, I think. This does not mean it needs to be changed. Every class of melee weapon will have an animation that the user deems most powerful, or at least that they favor the most.

As suggested. At a guess, 55% of my kills are overheads. Typically a left swing is used to break a spammers pace, as its the only attack that may be fast enough.
Some common 1h attack sequences:
Right, overhead
Left, thrust, overhead
Overhead chamber, overhead
Left, Kick, overhead
Sidestep, overhead

Right swing does have a reach bonus actually which is really handy, not useless at all.

I'd trade the reach bonus on 1h right swing for the ability to not glance on anything past your 1 o'clock. But I only play Siege, where reach is usually negated by walls/etc. I'd rather be able to hit the guy in my face without glancing.
