Title: Shield issue

Why can't I hold up my shield while I change weapons? There's really nothing to do against 2h spammers, or any spammer for that matter, for when I try to switch from my pitch fork to light spiked club, I get killed. Let me hold up my old round shield while changing weapons! Injustice!

You need to time it right. Once they hit your shield you should have enough time to switch weapons. Or make time with some footwork/jump.

How do you change a weapon without putting down your shield? Especially when its up to putting the Pitch Fork on your back and then taking out your club? Nah... its needed that you drop your shield for a second. You fight with 2 weapons, you want to change your weapon. Your disatvantage. :P

It's not an issue btw, its meant that way.

If a 2h swaps wep he is also vulnerable for a moment, same for any class including shielders.

No. All classes have same or similar issue. Shielders arent the only ones experiencing this "injustice".

Go hold a garbage can lid, and tell me how switching weapons requires you to lower it.

It's always bothered me, but lately I can't get away from 2h agi spammers to change weapons. Since i'm an honourable peasant, wearing a total of 8 body armor, they usually one shot me. This issue is detrimental to my peasant hoplite build. Perhaps Shields requiring one skill or less shouldn't need to be lowered while switching weapons. That way try hards that use the huscarl and what not can still get spam fucked.

When I want to switch weapons as a shielder, I press G to drop my cavalry-suited sword. I wear heavy gloves, so I give my unsuspecting foe a nice backhand to stagger them, jump away, and pull out my bonkin' mace.

Works really well if you wear heavy gloves, although I think simple peasantry are more fond of the leather type.

mh, try to not get into the situation. Use spear only with teammates around or against cav then switch before somebody gets close. If i get into 1 vs.1 I usually move till somebody helps or wait till shield brakes then kill em. Others are capable of 1vs.1 with shield + polearm with their wihiggling in wrong direction first, me not but its still ok.

As previously stated a hop back can usually do the trick.

Since you would be pitchfork hopliting, you could S key until the spammer catches up to you, then kick them & switch weapons.

Oh fuck you and your footwork nonsense. Being an athletic pig and running  people penalized with extra weight cause of a shield isnt footwork

So what you're saying is hoplites need another advantage?  Next thing you know they'll solo entire teams.  My question is, however, why do I need to lower my shield to change modes in a Rondel?

Protip, a hop forward is much more likely to work against aggressive players, a hop backward against s key heroes.

Yet its ok for a 2h slob to do a stab where they are almost falling on there face and kick. This last patch is awful. Every scrub player can now block with a 2h weapon and kick like a pro. Im going to play madden

I think the real issue here is that shields can block my attacks.  This is surely a bug.

If 1vs1 try and make them facehug you.

Backpedal, when u get the chance kick him, then switch weapon.

Thats how i deal with it  :wink:

Arys, ask yourself this: Are you really fit to be a peasant?

You seem to always be harping on your vulnerability as a peasant in little gear. Yet at the same time, you draw pride from your peasantry. Being a peasant with little to no armor means getting hit and killed in 1-2 shots. This is an inescapable, inevitable fact of peasant life. Instead of cursing the game for what you don't have, what you choose to be, rejoice in what you do have! You have a loomed spiked club, you have plenty powerstrike, agility, and even a shield(something that honorable peasants choose to reject), so I ask you the next time you kill a heavy kuyak wearer wielding a longsword to be thankful for the blessings bestowed upon thee.
