Title: Is this upkeep chart normal?
Post by: sumusiko on March 26, 2013, 10:34:23 pm
Not sure if this is even normal or not but in statistics in the "Upkeep" chart the average is around 7k per day however my upkeep today was 24k , is this normal or a bug? I have a upkeep of 2000 because I just bought cheap stuff however I used to have a upkeep of 2.138.

Then you played some hours? Or got 12 bad rounds? If your income is still higher (Pay), that should be fine.

I think you were unlucky, very unlucky. I run a 2k build as well and here are my average values:

Ya, Id just blame bad luck. My total upkeep is 2.5k and I generally break even... Now paying for my various different alts is a different story.

I believe this is because you are a new player, and recently hit the level at which upkeep begins.

They've changed it a lot since I began playing, but it's something like first generation level 24 now?

I believe that, if you have not respecced, it's Gen 1, Level 26 that you begin to be hit with upkeep or if you go over 10,000 gold saved.

If you have respecced...I'm not sure.  It's either that you begin being hit with upkeep immediately, or the same applies, only with the difference being made up in how many levels you lost with the respec (e.g., if you respecced from 16 to 14 [I dunno if that's how it would work, just an example] then you would begin being hit by upkeep at level 24, Gen 1.)

Remember your melee weapon will break a lot more if you don't have enough WPF. I believe it scales from 8% down to 2%? You only need WPF in 1 melee weapon skill though, so a 2 hander with 1 WPF will have the same chance to break as a polearm if you have 140 polearm skill. Same with ranged weapons, if you have a crossbow with low WPF it will break a lot more than high WPF. Ranged weapons all count separately for break chance unlike melee weapons

Best to completely ignore your repair costs though. As soon as you stop using decent gear you will get whole maps with nothing breaking, and as soon as you use a 16k item it will break next round :D . Get a decent gold buffer and forgot repairs, you will make money with 20k to 30k or more gear

I always pay my bow ... Change the repair's system please , that's a pain for poor players and that still allows to rich players to get a tincan/plated charger for kill everyone on the battlefield

I usually play for about 4 or 5 hours on the nights I play, and usually end up losing a few thousand

What if there was a higher chance of stuff breaking the more gold you had?
That would be an awesome gold sink and decrease the gap between the rich and poor.
Looms needs to be taken into account as well of course, to prevent rich players from just having lots of looms.

No, I'm just kidding
That would be awful.
