Title: Low requirement counters an easy balance solution.

I would love to see some cheap, low req and weak counters to different classes.


Sharpened pole                                   -2 slot 170 reach 19p  0str req

crude bow                                           -1 slot ~17 cut very low missile speed and accuracy    0req   retextured short bow

crude javelin                                       - 3 per stack 24p 1PT                    retextured javelin

plank shield                                         - stops arrows.. almost        0 req        non heraldic/retextured board shield


These are clearly inferior but might just be bad enough for people to use and discard them. In terms of models given enough interest i can have the sharpened stick made in a few hours.

Eh, a 0 req wep with such long reach? I see a LOT of agi whores using that...
And the speed bonus would more than make up for 1 PS

^why would you use 19p with 3 str when you could have 24p with 4 str already


Reach slows you down anyway

And the throwing weapon would become a new favourite sidearm for two handers and the like. Throwing spam is really incredibly annoying.

You are right on that. But those javelins would at least have two damage points more, but three less ammo. And you can't know if those throwing backups won't just need a little bit of time to actually show up. You know, people who used xbow before it was made 2 slot could need some time to respec or even get the idea, but then it could very well turn out to yet another throwing weapon spam. Although I don't know how effective you will be with only 1 PT and about 0-50 WPF (for most of those players).

I am just "afraid" of throwing weapons, balancing wise. It's incredibly difficult to place the weapon somewhere between not being OP or super annoying due to popularity and/or decent skill point investment efficiency, but on the other hand to not make the class too UP or luck based. Throwing is balancer's nightmare.

I understand your concern but honestly I don't think it would be a problem.

The other items are probably more important anyway.

What's wrong with the hide covered round shield or the practice shields?
