Title: Two people riding the same horse

I have an idea for a duo horse. Maybe have a horse that can carry two people, but if two are on it, the person steering cant attack. This would be hilarious and fun. I dont know if it is too much work but its just an idea.

Two people riding is a good idea (picking up a buddy), the horses should move like 15-25% slower (IMO, even if it's not realistic for balance reasons).  The person in front who is the normal "driver" should still be able to attack forward, but not to the sides.  The person in the back should certainly be able to attack.

But honestly I'd be okay with just making it so the person getting a ride can't attack, and they are just a passenger.  Only problem with this suggestion, you have to stop the horse completely to get off of it.  Not sure if I've made a thread for it or not, but I'm going to suggest being able to dismount while a horse is riding (you can mount them while a horse is moving)

Probably can't implement this: but the Irish (and likely other peoples) used to have a cavalry man ride at moderate speed, while an infantry man "ran" beside the horse, gripping its mane, so he could keep up with the rider.

It made for very hasty retreats and unit movements.

it could be used as tactical insertion to bring soldiers into battle or as emergency transport to transport wounded teammates

This would be awesome.  They should put this in for all horses.  Anyone can jump on the back of a horse, no riding required, but the horse has to be at full stop to get on. 

Rider can attack, but reduced radius.  Passenger is just a passenger.

Carrying 2 ppl, horse speed is reduced 15%, maneuverability is reduced 33%.

Maybe add something so that the rider has to give permission to take a passenger...like the duel server, press "key" to invite passenger.

I would like to see a camel with two people on it. Can't wait to see lancer+ha/hx combos or hx+hx.

Also, would the person in the back need riding skill as well?

The second rider should have a big malus on fighting skills , two lancers , HX , HA , or HT would be impossible . And the speed and skills of the rider should be reduced ... That's quite realistic , no ? That's not OP , but that's allow to save comrades  :)

If the trouble is being done to do all that.....why not just add supply carts that people and equipment can ride while a horse pulls?



Only sumpter can pull. +3 sumpter can haul 3 carts like a train! Finally put that POS horse to use.

I don't see why not both the rider and the passenger should be able to normally attack. It would be fucking hard to hit anything when someone else does the steering for you anyway.

I think that would be imbalanced.  A horse can pull up next to someone, swing 2 different directions at once, and the poor victim can't block. 

On the back of a horse, without a saddle or stirrups meant to hold 2 ppl...the passanger has to hold on for dear life!

You have a point, but I think its a little different.  When two people approach you (well, me at least) the defense is to back pedal and try to face one at a time.  The usually have different amounts of athletics or armor weight and you can try to keep the slower guy behind the faster one.

Two guys on a horse can basically pick when and where they engage you and consistently swing simultaneously in the same threat area.

I mean, I'm not saying it would always be easy for them or super duper wtfpwn OP or anything...but I'd rather see a 2-rider option be used as transport and add to tactical play and teamwork rather than try to create some kind of mounted war machine.

My point is that it would probably be additional effort to reduce the second rider to a simple passenger, and this effort can still be done when two regular riders turn out to be OP. I think the probability of teamhitting the other rider would negate any benefits such a dynamic duo would gain from riding the same mount. But we'll never know if it's not tested, right?

Always want something like this in strat battles.. when your horse gets killed and you on a random part of the map it takes so long to get back... would be great if you could get another cav to come pick you up and drop you off back at base.

To make it fair and stop the endless forum complaints you would probably have to make it so only one can fight but both can be hurt.

Hell even neither can fight and both can be hurt would be good in some situations just for traveling across some of the large maps.


One question tho. What were you thinking about riding skill?

Maybe you could tie that into what i said above. Something like no riding skill (passenger) means neither of you can attack, sufficient riding skill (passenger) one of you can attack.

What i'de like to see in this game is a wheelbarrow or carriage that carries your teammates, and people inside the wheelbarrow/carriage can attack while the person on the horse steers, and when the round starts you can do a drive-by, though i'd limit the wheelbarrow/carriage thing to 1-2 per team. This idea with having 2 people on a horse sounds fun too.

I just hope they add some kind of moving dismount, otherwise there would be countless "kidnappings"...
Where someone jumps on a random horse and is forced to stay on while the horse it moving.

I suspect that two riders on one horse would be far less effective than two riders on separate horses, even if they could both attack.
