Title: Add a retire without heirloom option for changing skills
Post by: Falesh on May 01, 2011, 05:30:48 pm
I see a lot of posts from high gen people that dislike the new exp system because they are now unable to change builds quickly. I do not agree that this argument should be used to bring back an exp system where high gen people could get new heirloomed items extremely quickly. I feel that heirlooms should be hard to get no matter what generation you are.

Instead why not make a new retirement option which does not give you a new heirloom but instead only drops you to, as an example, level 30 at the same time as reseting your skills and stats. Doing this allows respecing and gaining heirlooms to be balanced separately which gets around the problem that if you change one, the other might suffer.

This is stupid imo, It's a waste of the exp you gained to get to 31 anyways.
Retire at 15 if you made mistakes.

Good idea.

I will not be retiring from now on since the patch has removed the advantage i was looking for but each time i heirloomed i liked to respec and try a different build.

Adding this "retirement" option would give me the chance to respec and try new things out with out the whole 1-30 bollocks.

+1 for you sir.

It's not a system for fixing mistakes, it's one that allows people to play with a different build when they get bored of their current one without having to level up from 1 again.

What abiout gen bonus? Would you still get them according to your suggestion? Because that would really be fucked up.

Also, I don't see the point in this, leveling to 30 ain't the hardest part, leveling to 31 is.

Hes saying this so the only advantage is being able to stay at end tier but get to change your spec.

1-30   30-31 is the same lol how is either harder or easier.

It also takes the same amount of time to level from 1 to 30 as 30 to 31 so basically you have cut your required leveling in half and you are also very viable from the start due to being 30.

You wouldn't get a gen bonus as that would cheapen that too. However dropping to level 30 was just an example, it could easily be a thing that costs gold or puts you to an arbitrary exp level, like half way through 30. The main point of this post is to unlink gaining heirlooms from doing respecs so they can be balanced separately.
