when is a duel a training duel whe not?

when you dont block and press F its training, when you block up and press F its ranked.

I thought they were all "ranked" duels

You should go and test. It says when it's training and when it's ranked.

Nah I'll stick to the battle servers, wars weren't fought in vacuums
