Title: 2H Langes Messer and 23% damage penalty w/shield

So there's a penalty of 15% if you carry a polearm and a shield at the same time and no penalty for carrying a 2H weapon with a shield on your back and a 23% damage penalty if you use a 2H weapon that could be used one handed with a shield on your back if I recall correct.

If you use a langes messer, but set it 2H with a shield on your back and another 2H weapon, do you get a penalty on damage if you carry a shield?

Shields on your back have no influence on your damage or swing speed whatsoever.

They do cripple you however.

Langes Messer is a 1h weapon, its secondary use is 2h. Therefore it has no penalty when you use it with shield at the same time, cause its main use is still 1 hand use. But 2h like bastard/long does have penalty when you use it with a shield cause its originally a 2h weapon, not designed for 1h use with shield. Carring a shield on your back has no penalty and polearm(like war spear) with shield use....im not sure. I think has no penalty besides speed.....but I may be wrong with this one.

shield on back = never affects your damage or attack speed with ANY weapon.  The weight can slow your movement speed though.

Langes = is a 1h weapon but can be 1h or 2h.  If you are carrying a shield on your arm, it will be 1h. If you have no shield on your arm, it can be 1h or 2h.  If you have a shield on your back it can be 1h or 2h.  There is never a penalty with this weapon.

Some 2h weapons (longsword, bastard sword, etc) = can be used with a shield on your arm.  There is a bad penalty for that.  If there is a shield on your back there is no penalty.

Also double checking, but hasn't the 33% hoplite penalty been removed from cRPG?

I always thought polearm with shield was 30% speed penalty... right?

I know it used to be, but they may have changed it...and they may have changed only on one or two servers. :/

Man, I wish this game had a complete wiki or instruction book...and all the servers were uniform! :)

I think the speed is about the same but I think they lowered the hoplite damage penalty.
