would be cool if you could actually choose to be left or right hand fighter / decide in what hand you hold shield/weapon. a tactical choice when fighting hard opponent. if they are left-handed, you could pick right-handed style.
realism says that you need to be trained in order to use both left and right equally. but perhaps ad some kind of option when you roll a new character to either be left or right hand fighter. later when you get higher level you can put points in some kind of ambidexterity skill

Yeah, someone suggested it before, and I think it's a good idea. Would certainly spice up combat a bit.

I think this is hardcoded in the game.
Hard (if not impossible) and very time consuming for the dev team to make this happen/

Wouldn't you also need double the amount of animations for combat?

They could be simply mirrored, which is probably far less work than a whole new set

You think then mirror all animations is impossible?

Making the game understand that sometimes it has to use one and sometimes the other may be difficult to do.

I see no fun or even benefit in doing that and I doubt cmp, who would have to do the work in WSE if it is possible at all, does. Lefties went straight to hell anyway back in the days.
The only one I remember suggesting to train both arms equally was Musashi in the Japan of the 17th century and it was mostly a philosophical thing. Have no preferences(so no strong/weak arm in personal combat, no prefered troop type on the battlefield as a commander), so you have no weaknesses, etc.

Of course not. You are not a visionary.
