How does it work? \o/
(Old system way doesn't work, I tried changing my character name to a name I already created and it just says it's taken. I tried making up a name out of nowhere and after a while of pending name change... nothing happened and I lost 1000 gold. Not that it matters much, it just doesn't work.)

You just type in the new name you want to use and submit it. After some time it will be reviewed and accepted/denied. If you already created a character with the name you wanted to use you need to delete that character first because otherwise the name will be "taken".
-
And what doing then? When i submit a new name, i must create new character in game or something wait?
-
1. go on the website
2. choose the character you want to apply the name changes(click on character name in the upper left corner)
3. choose tab settings
4. fill in the new name and make sure you have 1000 gold
5. go to your character creation page in game and change his name there

so I followed these steps and after changing my name on the website, and then editing my name in game, my lvl 26, turned into a lvl 1 with the name that I wanted, but now I have no lvl 26, unless i re-name my new peasant with the name that I want, back to my old name. Am I doing somthing wrong? How long do the name changes usually take?
(does that make sense?)

Play your old char until the namechange is accepted. You will notice the namechange when you old char becomes a level 1 - then you can switch to the new name ingame. Name changes are done manually by admins, so it can vary how long they will take.
-
Thankyou Harald,
so it is ok that my name change request went from pending to, nothing?
-
If your old char still exists like before as level 26 the change was denied.
-
why would it be denied?
-
Name changes are only for fixing typos or adding/removing tags again, not just, "It's a new gen, I want to name my char something else" anymore.
-
so my name is forever stuck long.
damnn...

You could probably sneak around the system, and it also depends on who is reviewing your request. It's an individual guy looking at it, so it will vary based on that alone. One workaround: Get rid of clan tags at one time a day and change your name with that change, do another request later adding them back.

If you are spotted doing it the sneaky way, you will be getting into trouble for trying to go around the system.

Then How can I just change my name? can I talk to an Admin about it?
-
For the love of god, just let us change the names on our own freaking characters!!!!
Why so draconian?
"Cuz bad people might change their names to get out of their bad reputation."
Again, why so draconian?

I was told that when changeing your name, even if adding/changeing clan tags your name must be the same as your current. For example- I was Shaolin_Warrior
I wanted to be MLG_Techno, it kept getting denied so i asked. It had to be MLG_ShaolinWarrior, you can't change your name completely anymore is what i was told. They might make an exception if you have a good reason, your name being so long might be a good reason.
-
That's strange, because I was Clan_Rank_Malaclypse, and I was allowed to change it to my name pre-tag, Malaclypse_The_Younger. Which is still sort of the same, but also more different than similar.
-
Well people know you more as Malaclypse than random_title_here so it's not like you were breaking the standards.
