this is pretty much exactly what I've been wanting for a long time. literally said I would pay for a re-release of the game (not that aoe online piece of shit) with updated multiplayer, so that plus steamworkshop = sooo fucking epic.
Ill be buying this, if community gets re started we could see some EPIC mods on workshop that could convince people its worth buying, although it is a bit much.

It's much more than slightly better graphics. It should be stable, something which the old version never is any more because of compatibility issues, that's if you can even get it working right. And the multiplayer. Multi on age of empires hasn't worked properly for a long time. Making it work through steam is a wish come true as before you'd have to go through all kinds of hassle with Tunngle or some other program. As far as I'm concerned the multi is worth the £14 I just spent.
Plus there's no working comparison atm. AOE Online was no good in comparison and there really aren't any other games like this.

This is p much worth it just for MP on steam. Maybe I'll get paired up with less BR players than the other options available haha.

Every time I've tried there's been some problem. Graphical glitches all over the place, crashing on start-up, crashing at various other times, sound not working...all sorts of things. Adding to the fact MP is a bitch to get working. Most people I know have the same problem...you are lucky :P

This is correct. These type of games are long dead. Only competitor is nowhere near finished but it is coming along nicely (0 A.D.). But it is different time frame, more like AoE Gold Edition remake.
