Maybe you didn't notice but there is a "drop shield" key  :P

I might have to endure 150 ping just to play on this server that apparently is the only one to get all these cool updates. This is a great addition though; I can't say how many times I've been killed because my shield was nearly broken, so I was trying to pick up a replacement from the ground, but wasted like 5 seconds trying to do the right combo of sheathe weapon, drop shield, pick up shield, equip weapon, etc. Not to mention, dropping your shield when facing an axeman beats putting it on your back (since you will be faster and don't have your view blocked).
