I recently watched Troy again, and I still hate the fail they made, the Greek thing is speaking how he is gonna burn the town to the ground, but he attack without any siege equipment, so if they would win, what than ..

yes

I am puzzled

Gladiator, if not only for the opening sequence.
No brainer really. :)

Gladiator ftw
-
lol Troy is shit. Obvious choice

Even though Troy was crap, the hoplite duel scene was excellently choreographed, well paced, varied and intense. Better than all the fight scenes in Gladiator, which doesn't make Troy a better movie, but I am voting Troy anyway, lol.

You mean Hector vs Achilles ? Yeah, it was very well staged.

They raped Homer's corpse and shat all over it. No idea why they went with a pseudo-realistic storyline for Troy and overlooked everything to do with the Greek Gods, practically the true protagonists of the story.

Gladiator is a far superior movie. The story, the battle scenes and the gladiator scenes were simply amazing. Not to mention standard Joaquin Phoenix crazy guy as Commodus was fantastic.

That is true. I always imagined Achilles as a big guy, skilled but strong. They choreographed it so he was a lot more agile and the moves were quite interesting and fluid. Probably suited Brad Pitt more as he was a smaller guy.
Troy I hated the fact they explained bugger all. Like Achilles dying. He takes 3 arrows in the chest, pulls them out and kind of ignores them. Then he gets shot in the heel and just dies with 0 explanation of the whole thing about his mother dipping him in the styx by the ankles and so not getting all of him. That was just one example of what they missed.

They are equally good movies to watch. Any scene from one can be matched with a great scene from the other.

And shit on a shitload of the actual "history" that doesn't involve gods... Troy was one of the worst pieces of shit I've ever bothered watching.

The Gladiator is probably one of the best known movies about ancient rome and a way better movie than Troy imo.
