Title: Buff Agility
Post by: Eugene on February 23, 2013, 09:23:52 am
Hello everyone.

I'm pretty sure most of you will agree with me when I say that strength is the only way to go when it comes to easymoding. A heavily strength biased build with a flamberge (9PS and 9IF) will hit a lot harder, last a lot longer and as a result, perform a lot better than the a 12:27 agility build.

You may say "But they run and attack faster". Up slight slopes, you will find that strength builds will move faster as it decreases weight penalty, thus the effect of wpf is lowered furthermore than what it is already.

Movement speed is certainly a benefit in a 1v1 scenario, but in battle and siege modes, it really just becomes a luxury. But even still, in a one-on-one, with two equally skilled opponents, one hit would drop the agility build, where the strength opposite could take a lot more punishment.

So to go about this, I think it would be a good idea to give a slight wpf grant per agility point used, like in singleplayer, or to increase the entire combat speed of cRPG in general.

What do you fellas think?

yup. Agi is slightly underpowered. Everyone knows it. No need to make a new topic about it. It probably won't change as the devs hardly work on c-rpg anymore.

AGI-weighted builds are really good for 1v1, be it duel server or in battle or strategus. In large fights your speed bonus is neither a bonus or a decrement. But your lack of Hp and strong single hits means that a wall of STR builds will beat a wall of AGI builds in almost any case.

Is there any way you could fix this? Fast characters can cap flags in strat, but that's an auxillary option. They are otherwise weaker than STR based builds.

When two skilled fighters duel, one agility and one strength, the strength will prevail at least 75% of the time. All it takes is knowing when the agility build will hold, or spamming an attack and it's over. A strength build can afford to take such a risk too, more than once.

Ironflesh and arnour are too significant of a bufferzone considering 1 hit will drop a 0IF 27 agility character.

The only thing that really gives Strength the advantage is armor and how effective higher values can be at negating damage. If armor values weren't able to be so high I feel like Agi/Str would be much better balanced with one another. Though, heavy armor also exacerbates the one major drawback in "pure" Str builds (less than 12 for agi, I'd say 9 or less) in that they can get mobbed and taken down quite easily with less hope for clever maneuvering or retreat to friendlies. Still, the benefits of being able to tank hits and hit extremely hard outweigh the cons of mobility/cost.

This is very true. What really makes strength and IF so significant is armour, as it reduces damage taken thus really prolongs the life of the wearer. I know Iron Flesh used to give a benefit to armour, however, whether this still is the case I am unsure.

You can see how effective strength is just by watching 36:3 build noobs like Sosarian_Knight just s key and tank hits. I rarely saw him win a 1v1 based on skill.

about unbalanced damage of str build can cry only agi whores who cannot block.
btw I am pretty sure most of you never used more then 24 str and flamberge but you think its much easier then be a runner with danish gay sword for example

Str crutching is boring. Mainly because you are so slooooow and limited to use only certain tactics. Not to mention I feel ashamed when people glance off my choppa face and I just spam them, needing only 1 hit to kill them :(.
